New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags

A little birdie told me that fringe details will be hot for Spring 09. My first reaction? Oh no, not again! I'll admit it, I have never been much of a fan of fringe. And yet, these past few seasons kept having a few fringed styles showing up here and there. But this year, the fringe somehow seems different. Instead of screaming "hippie", these new bags have more of a western feel to them. So I thought, maybe -- just maybe -- I should give fringe a second look. The key to making this look work, in my opinion, is to limit the rows of fringe to just one or two.
Above I have pictured two fun, fringe-filled styles. The first is the J.J. Winters Suede Fringe Bag. I think Vanessa Hudgens wore it well with her floaty top, skinny jeans, and boots. The bag measures 16.5" x 11" and it retails for $420. Find it in Grey at Pink Mascara.
The second bag is the Linea Pelle Janis Fringe Clutch. This simple clutch features a single row of fringe around its outer edge. I'm not sure why, but fringe seems so much more fun when it comes in such a small package! The clutch measures 10.5" x 6" and it retails for $235. Find it at Linea Pelle, where it is available in a variety of colors.
And for those of you that think maybe you'd like to give the fringe trend a try, but you're afraid of making a major investment...

Check out this bag from Urban Outfitters (pictured above). This beauty is only $60! Find it at UrbanOutfitters

Re: New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags
This trend has def. grown on me. I like it on handbags and some shoes - but that's it.
Now, even bikinis have fringe on them!!

Re: New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags
I absolutely hated fringe. And I think I still might. LOL! But I have been hating it a little less since I saw some of more conservative styles that are out there. The J.J. Winters bag looks very nice on Vanessa.

Re: New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags
I'm not a fan of fringe. The most I can handle is a small tassel.

Re: New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags
eugh the fringe looks so tacky, I mean these are the style of bags they sell at my local market for £5!!
honestly, I cannot imagine buying one of these, let alone buying a designer one at a high price..it just doesnt work for me.

I am really not a fan of fringe, and I don't think that's going to change no matter how popular it becomes.

Kelly Bensimon was spotted last night on The Real Housewives of NYC with this Tod's fringe bag. ($1,175)

Re: New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags
I can't fully get behind this trend. I tried on some heels with fringe, thinking they would be cute, but they looked like "80's K-Mart" style. I guess I remember the look of the 'fringe' in school, and I never remember it being 'trendy'. Of course I swore I'd never wear stirrup pants again. LOL

Re: New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags
I'm not really into the whole fringe-bag trend, but I do have a pair of hot fringe sandals that I love!
I think it looks good on some bags & shoes!

Re: New Trend Alert: Fringe Handbags
I'm not really into this trend...too many dangly things for me flapping around. Didn't LV make some limited edition fringed multicolor bags a couple years ago?
Now on a BAN!
