Default Is it important to keep the tags?

I was talking to a friend of mine a couple days ago and she mentioned something I found interesting.

She said she saves all the tags whenever she buys a new bag. This includes receipts, care booklets, price tags, etc- pretty much every piece of paper that comes with the bag. She says she does this for a few reasons: one, if she were to ever resell the bags, having the paperwork helps and two, if she were to travel overseas with her bags, the paperwork would help prove that her bags are real, not fake.

    Is this true?

I save the receipts for the bags I purchase, but for other reasons. I have the tags for the last few bags I got, but do I need to keep them? I am pretty sure I threw out the care books (which might have been good to keep but for other reasons).

I don't see myself reselling the bags, but who knows what will happen in the future (I have learned this very well- life can change instantly!). I would like to travel overseas, but would I really need to bring the tags and receipts with the bags?

Do you keep the paperwork with the bags? Why or why not?

I used to not keep tags, but I have since started to. It makes sense for all the reasons you listed above.

I'd keep them, but I'm not sure why you'd need to bring them overseas, unless you were nervous about Customs. I guess you might want to prove that you bought your bags prior to your trip especially if you go someplace where you might have bought them. Like France or italy.

That's what she was talking about! I couldn't remember the word "customs". Lol.

Yes, she meant that when she goes out of the country she wants the receipt and the tag to be with the purse in case there might be any problems with customs.

Well, from now on I will be keeping all paperwork related to any bag I purchase. For those who keep the tags, etc., what do you keep them in? The dustbag or a separate envelope or something else?

I definitely think it's a smart idea to keep the paperwork and tags for your bags, especially if you're paying over $250-300 for a bag. You never know if you'll want to sell it on eBay or somewhere else in a few years, and it's just generally helpful to keep that stuff. Even if I get a bag as a gift, I keep the tags or little card that comes with it.

Well I do keep my tag for all my handbag, not because to resell or to prove someone it's not a fake... Every single bag I brought I love and still love the first Coach handbag I brought 7 years ago. I keep every single piece of paper just as sovenir.. I put them in a scrapbook and take a picture of the handbag so it remind me of the day I brought the bag..

Lately I've been keeping all my tags. Mostly all of my LV bags and accessories, except the ancient ones LOL - I have tags for every single Rebecca Minkoff bag & clutch I own, my Marc Jacobs, my Jimmy Choo, my Gucci and a few others I can't even remeber I own at the moment LOL. I have 2 giant sacks of dustbags and I try to put the tags, booklet, etc. in the coordinating dustbag or in its box, if it's a LV small leather good for example.

I think it's important for resale purposes. You never know if you're going to get sick of something and want to sell it in a few years.

It never crossed my mind until my friend mentioned it to me. I was a little confused at first, but it makes more sense the more I think about it.

I keep tags and most of my receipts inside the bags pockets if they have them.

I also keep the tags and care books or cards that come with my bags. Maybe not the receipts so much. I also keep them in the inside pocket of my bags.

Done...I think...Until I find something that catches my eye

I think it's a good idea to keep the tags and booklets. I keep them in the bag's inside pocket. I also keep the receipts in a small folder with pockets (which I have yet to re-organize). A mini photo album could also do the trick for staying organized.

A mini photo album is a great idea! Thanks!

I was thinking of keeping them in the bag, but knowing me when I go to clean out the bag it would get mixed in with other trash and thrown away. But I will try the photo album idea. I believe I have an extra one too.
