Default Real Simple discusses renting accessories

This is a page from an article that discusses renting vs owning of different items. Here's the page about handbags. Thought somebody might find it interesting. It's pretty common sense, really. -C

Buy or Rent? When to Have and to Hold, When to Use and Return

Wendell T. Webber 5 of 8 Should You Buy or Rent Accessories?

    Consider Renting If...

You’re a trendsetter. Online handbag depot Bag Borrow or Steal (Bag Borrow or Steal™ - Borrow or Rent the Latest Authentic Designer Handbags Purses Sunglasses Watches and Jewelry) gives you access to the latest styles, some with retail values of $1,000 or more.

You need bling for a special occasion. Formal-wear stores often rent costume jewelry, and some jewelers offer the real stuff. OldCities (Estate Jewelry, Antique Jewelry - OldCities) rents antique and estate jewelry — $100 for three days, insured and shipped.

    Consider Buying If...

You’re investing in classic pieces — a strand of freshwater pearls, a black leather tote, a pair of simple diamond earrings. Even if you like to mix things up from time to time with a trendy handbag or an unusual ring or bracelet, it’s a good idea to have a few timeless standbys on hand (literally and figuratively).

    Tips and Resources

If the latest fashions leave you cold, vintage accessories, which can offer a lot more style for a lot less money, may be more your bag. Check out the wares for sale at Retrodress (Retro Style Clothing and Vintage Style Dresses for You from Retrodress) and Enokiworld (enokiworld : vintage clothing for modern women) and, of course, on eBay.

I never thought of myself as a renter...after seeing this, I know now I'm not...when it comes to anything in life...I'd rather save up, even though I can't have what I want right then and there and then get to keep it...I did look at bagborroworsteal at one point and decided not to go with it...Sometimes I think of how much $ would be saved if I'd go with pre-owned though...But I'm def not a trendsetter...and I like to use things for a long period of time...I think that even with my car, I will probably still have the same car until it dies...even though there are better models coming out...

I am exactly the same. It takes me a looooong time to save up for some of the things I want, but it is always worth it. I do like trendy pieces, but I could never rent them. I would miss it after I returned it! And there would always be that voice in the back of my head telling me that if I had only saved the money I spent on renting it, I could probably have it by now.

Has anyone been to the enokiworld site? Dear Lord, some of the descriptions are funny.

Anyway, I digress. I prefer to save up for what I like if I can not afford it right away. I had previously thought about going the renting route, but I figured that it would cost more to have a constant supply of bags and I'd rather not worry about having to return something that I could have possibly damaged. If I've already bought the bag and something happens to it, then I'll figure out how to deal with it then.
