I propose mandatory purse hooks to be placed in all high-end hair & nail salons. (not "Purse Hooks" the portable hangers.)
It’s not rocket science. Their number one clientele are average to well-off women who most likely have expensive taste for designer handbags (that's you guys). Do they honestly think we want to toss our bag on the ground like a piece of garbage while they snip away with hair bits flowing around, or even place our purse on the mini counter next to their scorching hot instruments? I don’t think so. And I’m not talking about the portable Purse Hooks that are already out in the market, I’m talking about the built-in under the counter ones. If you were to use the portable Purse Hook, chances are the hair stylist is going to bump it when she's moving around. Besides, why would you want it out in the open and in easy target of getting dirty, burned, or sprayed with a hair product like hairspray? The purse hook should be attached to the back corner and out of sight. I guarantee you wont even be worrying or thinking about it. “Oh but what if I forget my designer purse?” Would you forget your baby, or your child? I didn’t think so.

Yea i agree. The salon i go to has a huge space between the chair and the mirrors so you can place your bag & stuff, so i dont have that issue.

Hey, they have coat hooks, why not purse hooks? Good idea, and you might want to bring it up at the salons you go to.
But for myself, I admit I put my purse on the floor. It's not a big issue for me since most of my bags are easily wiped-off leather, and none are white. When I look at other women's purses there, most are ordinary, non-descript bags. Can't say I've ever seen a Hermes ostrich there (or anywhere else). Of course, this could be a function of me going to cheap Asian salons for my pedicures, and to mid-price hair salons.

I'm all about this! I HATE how there is never any space at salons. And I could set it in the back on a hook with other peoples coats, but I'm iffy on that plus I like to be able to get to it if necessary. Thats why most of the times I load what I need in a crappy bag that I could care less about and leave my nice purse in the trunk until I leave the salon.

That is a great idea!
I normally let the attendant take my bag along with my jacket, sweater, layers, scarf into the coat room. I know, why all the layers? I'm never dressed appropriately for my haircut. I always show up dressed for wherever I have to be after my haircut which has sometimes led to me being in just my bra (under a robe) for the cut.
Has anyone had bad experience with missing bags/items from coat check?
