October 30, 2007 Kate Spade "Your Designer Handbag is Fake”
Would you ever call anyone out for carrying a replica designer bag? Mrs. Kate Spade would....
In a recent interview with NYTimes, Kate Spade revealed her most recent encounter with a Kate Spade fan carrying a fake designer handbag. "I knew all the bags that were on the street, and this one I didn't know had hit the street yet, but I knew it wasn't real. I'm telling you, I was across the street and I could tell." she said. So what did Kate do next? She walked on over to the lady and asked, "Where did you get that?" The woman instantly recognized the designer. "She was like, 'Oh, my God, you're Kate Spade!” And what was her reasoning for sporting a fake designer purse? "She said, 'Oh I didn't buy it, my husband did,'" said Kate. Hah! I’m sure that’s what they all say… blame it on someone else.

We here @ TBF need to start a coalition against women carrying fakes. I think we should come up with a design or logo. We could have a flyer about the fakes and how they fund terrorism and child labor...one that we could just print from this site. I wouldn't mind handing out a flyer to a woman carrying an obvious fake...she might not be aware that she is helping fund such terrible practices. Maybe come up with a contest among members to submit a design for a t-shirt?? What do you guys think?

I think that's a great idea!!! Let's get the message out... somehow!!! How about bagbliss.com doesn't support fakes tshirts (or a more creative message... )??! I would buy one!!!!
Yea i do agree that kate spade's bags are less than impressive....and i actually find it a little rude that she went up to one of her "fans" and called her out like that....but i do agree that no one should walk around with a fake!...Ever!...theres just no point...you're not fooling anyone...

uh, ditto. imagine if you were walking down the street and marc jacobs came up to you! oh my god i would probably melt into a puddle and die.
OMG!!!! If Marc Jacobs was to comment my fake bag (If I had a fake bag, which I don't)... I would cry out of humiliation!!! I would probably melt into a puddle and die afterwards! lol...
Kate Spade's bags are so ugly I don't know how anyone could tell a real one from a fake. They look the same.
You can usually tell because most fakes are of prints that were never produced. I'm not a big fan of her bags anyway, but I do know a fake one when I see it.
Kate Spade bags are no longer getting the best spots on the retail shelves anyway. At this rate soon no one will care whether its fake or not, except Kate herself. Same goes for Ralph Lauren and DKNY. Not that I condone fakes, they are bad and rightfully illegal, but some of these designers should worry when there are no more fakes.
As for the above incident, its nothing compared to the poor woman who unknowingly took in her fake Cartier watch to an authorized dealer for repair and had it smashed to pieces.

I had not heard of the Cartier watch incident. OMG!!

What I mean is that the bags are so plain and cheap looking. Looks like Mizrahi-for Target stuff.
Good point about designers worrying when no one's knocking their stuff off anymore. Do you see knockoffs of Anne Klein bags? That was an "it" bag in the '80s. Now it's in Nine West territory, lol. Same with Calvin Klein (boy, did that line fall off a cliff), Aigner and some others.
