Default Any ideas on a messenger bag?

Hey girls! I just ordered a canvas messenger bag and I got it in the mail today. I was planning on using it for school... but its too small! The description said that it was 16 inches in length... but it turns out it is 16 inches TALL and only 11 inches in length. That would be okay I suppose, except that it isn't wide enough. I could only fit 2 books in there. I have 3 books, plus 2 lab books, and of course I'll need room for notebooks. I wanted something casual looking and would prefer heavy-duty canvas since I've never had much luck with nylon bags. Oh, and I hate velcro! AGH! Nothing is worse that hearing someone ripping open velcro! Here's the bag I bought... so you can see what I was trying to get.

ARGH! I've been searching and searching and I still can't find anything. I don't like brightly colored nylon with mesh pockets! Why can't I find a messenger made out of canvas that is the size I need? I need something BIG... like 20 X 15 or something like that. But then it needs to be at least 5 inches deep because my stupid books are so fat! Oh, and I would like to have a divider within the large compartment... so its two compartments instead. And outside pockets would be good too! ::sigh:: Why is this so hard?

Hehe... here's a men's bag by Juicy. At least its big! 16x16x6!

It's $295 though... but husband wouldn't be too happy if I spent that much on a book bag. Hmm...
Come on girls! You're not helping very much here! LOL!

Okay... how about this one? It's a canvas laptop messenger by Case Logic. Only $30!

Does it look to boyish? Well... the Juicy one looked boyish too.
::sigh:: I don't want a bag that looks too girly... but at they same time I don't want something that looks "professional". Plus I hate that nylon that they make backpacks out of... and I don't want people wondering how I purchased an expensive bag if I have so much "financial need" (I'm receiving government grants for school). Hmm... this is so hard!

Jennifer - I don't wear too much black... so I'm looking for a neutral tone in either tan, brown, olive green, etc. The one's from Aeropostale look cute. How big are they? I'm finding that most bags aren't deep enough to hold all of my books. I need something that's like 5 or 6 inches deep since my books are thick.
What about the Case Logic one I posted? The picture won't show up... so you have to click the link. Do you think that one is too masculine looking? It's really big, that's why I like it.

Angry GRRRRRRRRRR!

I'm getting so pissed! Every single bag I have looked at is too small! Why is this turning out to be so hard? I dragged my husband all over town today and we came up with nothing. Everything was just too small. Why is it so hard to find a messenger bag that's like 6-8 inches deep. You'd think someone would make one.
I looked at the Case Logic bag... it says its 8 inches deep on the website, but there's no way that interior is actually that deep. Too much padding I guess. ::sigh:: I guess I'm going to school on Monday without my books, I can't carry all of those without a bag. Damn! I'm so stupid... all of my classes are one right after the other so I actually need to take all of my books with me.

Thanks Jennifer! You're so sweet!

Actually, I finally found a bag. Something just told me to go to Scheels... don't know why since its a sporting goods store. But I went there and I found a bag that was big enough! It's not really what I had wanted... but I guess at this point I shouldn't be picky.

It's a Jansport... and it's called "Elefunk". Hmm... isn't Jansport a "nerdy" brand. LOL!

They had some other bags that were a little more my style (um... not made of nylon) but they were too small. Sheesh! What a horrible ordeal!
