I read a very alarming article in Harper's Bazzaar, i know that here at TBF we are against fakes :D but manymanymany people do not feel that way. Whether it be "they're too expensive" "it's a waste of money" or simply "i can't affored the real deal" you may be stealing a childhood and frankly not even know it.
OK.... now I don't agree with FAKES at all. First I thought... it's ok because the person buying the fake might not be able to afford the real thing... but now that I know this... it's wrong on ALL counts. This is the reason I DO NOT BUY COACH ANYMORE. COACH... NON-Fake... I was told by the SA's at Louis Vuitton, are also made by little kids. I swear... I'm going to be successful in singing (fingers crossed I get signed this year)... and I will start a Charity to stop this!!! These poor children being these factory workers is rediculous. And you would be surprised HOW MANY brands really do... have child laborers. I was told... if the Factory IS NOT in the USA, France, Italy, London or Spain.. than it's most likely a Factory that has Child Laborers. When you see something made in Hungry, Turkey, China, Japan, Guatemala, Mexico, (ANY SOUTH AMERICAN COUNTRY FOR THAT MATTER), Vietnam, and probably any Oriental country.... it has child laborers. AHHH... this makes me so angry. THIS and Puppy Mills needs to be stopped!
FYI... if you own a Dooney & Bourke... check out where it's made... most say CHINA... this is why I'm selling the 2 I have on ebay this week!! Made an account and I want them out of my hands!
I mean also think about it... my Dooney bag was made in CHINA.... it was $165 at DILLARDS. Can you imagine how much it actually cost for some poor little kid to make??? That bag in reality probably cost $5 to make. It disgusts me. This is why French and Italian designers are the best.

Is that why Coach stopped making their bags in USA.... now they make them in China???? OMG.... that's absolutely sooo sad.... I don't want any coach anymore.... These poor children who many have no choice but to work for a living are working so hard to make money and they dont' even get decent money for all the work they do.... it's soo sad.... what's puppy mills???

LOL! Yep... I agree with you all the way. Especially the puppy mills!
THat is sooo... sad... I had no idea.... I bought my puppy at a petstore.... I love him... but I feel bad.... If I ever buy a dog again, I'll be more prepared....
i cried =( i have three puppies i love them so much i WILL SHUT DOWN PUPPY MILLS. as for handbags those poor kids. they have no choice. they dont! stop feeding into this. =[
So how do we bag lovers boycott bags? Oh boy... that will be hard!
But I do agree with not supporting companies that use child labor. I wonder if we can find out who really does and who really doesn't. Some companies have their stuff made in several different countries.
I agree that child labor is bad. But just because a bag is made in China doesn't necessarily mean it's child labor. Most US companies do utilize some form of what we may cnsider child labor (meaning the kids are 14, 15, etc) but they aren't dehumanizing the workers in any form. As a society the US fails to realize that for many poor countries (world bank standards) child labor is an acceptable practice and in some cases the only way to survive.

chanel, dior, and LV are made in france and the USA so they're safe
dooney & coach are made in china so thats sketchy
the most we can do is not buy fake bags and spread the word. maybe report fake bag distributors?
There are sweatshops in the US though... I don't know if handbags have ever been made in any of them, but there have been many reports on this. Also, just because something is made in China... how do we know that they used child labor? I mean...obviously it is entirely possible that they could have, but there's no way of knowing for sure. I did a web search and I couldn't find any articles on Coach or Dooney in regards to child labor/sweatshops. Is it possible we could be jumping the gun here? Or are they just hiding some dirty little secrets REALLY well.
