Re: Can 'Handbags' Steal Childhoods.
Whew! That took a lot of digging. Here' something from the Coach website:
http://www.coach.com/corporate/gover...Guidelines.pdf
Its an outline about how they select their suppliers and it has a section on the use of child labor... but who knows for sure. I mean, they could just be saying that and not really following it.

Never shop for anything, clothes books tvs or anything, from Walmart. Walmart imports from these sorts of companies, [child labor] and they are one of the worst major retailers in north america for human rights abuses of employees. :O

Re: Can 'Handbags' Steal Childhoods.
Viva - Yes.. puppymills are so sad!!! That's why they say you are better off adopting a puppy and save it from getting euthanized than buying a puppy off a pet store OR off of someone that doesn't have papers etc. Not all pet stores are SKETHCY though.... you have to ask the people at the pet store "Where do you get your puppies?"... if they say that can't answer that... or they buy off of people in the midwest... most likely the puppy was from a puppy mill. Even if they say "we have our own breeders we deal with"... and you have to ask "Can I please have the name of the breeders".. if thay say that's confidential... the puppy is from a puppymill. They try to hide it so much... but if you know what to ask... then there is no way they can get around it. I want to buy a puppy... but I won't go to a pet store... I refuse. EVERY pet store in SOuth FL that I've been too it's horrible. I ask them "Where do you get these puppies?" They all answer "From dealers around the area we deal with?" I'm like "Oh can I please have the breeders number to call them an confirm about you guys?" They go "We can not give you anymore info"... PUPPYMILLS. Better off looking in the newspaper to see if a puppy.. accidentally had puppies so you can purchase.
Coach's things are made in china? All my stuff says Hungry and Turkey. Child Labor! I was told that by people at LV. Isn't it sad a bag from Coach is NOT CHEAP at all... and yet you're buying a bag that's made in Hungry or Turkey... gross. I think I will stick to Louis Vuitton... Neo Audra.. is calling my name!

Re: Can 'Handbags' Steal Childhoods.
Yep, Coach had most of its factories moved to China. Their company policy says that they refuse to do business with anyone (e.g. factory owners) who uses child labor or forces people to work (slavery-like practices). But who knows if they really follow this policy though. You'd have to go to China and inspect their factories to be sure. LOL!
Marissa- I was told that there are "sweatshops" in European countries as well. So there could be some European designers out there that employ children. I guess there's really no way to know for sure.

The new dooney bubble line was produced in USA

I only buy LV and I want a Balenciaga and some day in the future a Hermes. Think any of them had child labors??? Hmm... this is a good search on the internet.

You know... you never really know... that's what is really sad about it. There could be all kinds of companies that don't use child labor... but then later down the road it might come out that they do. A conspiracy type thing. I think its definately worth researching. It'll probably turn out that they don't use child labor, though. But I guess you can never be too cautious.

Awww... Multicolor Marissa!!! Get a Balenciaga... You'll LOVE it.... (I havent even recieved mine yet, but I'm already in love)
And about the child labor.... I think even if children do produce big name brand products... I don't think they would ever admit it.... so how would people find out??? Either way, poor children and this is totally wrong!!!!

Sure - if the pet store is being supplied by a puppy mill, which most are unfortunately.

There is only one petstore in my city now that sells puppies. All of the other ones have been shut down or have gone out of business. This lady just opened up a LARGER store with more room for puppies. She has the puppy monopoly! I would love to protest her... but I kind of know her personally. She's friends with my mom... plus I went to school with one of her employees. Oh dear... what a bind!
