DIANE VON FURSTENBERG is not a woman to mess with. Standing by her commitment to fight for copyright laws, she is suing US retailer Forever 21 for creating dresses that are too similar to her designs from the spring/summer 2006 collection. Only last month, the designer created a new program within her label with the sole purpose of protecting the clothes' intellectual property - and now that program will be put into action. "Without authorisation or license from DVF, Forever 21 has produced and is marketing, advertising, distributing, offering for sale and selling dresses nearly identical to DVF's Cerisier and Aubrey dresses that bear print designs identical to the DVF copyrights," legal papers obtained by WWD stated. The copying is also alleged to be wilful and therefore likely to carry a maximum penalty when the case reaches court. In the mean time, DVF has asked Forever 21 to recall all the designs being sold and advertisements being shown which infringe on copyright laws - as well as demanding financial compensation. I heard thah Gwen Stephanie was suing Forever 21 too. I like forever 21 but they should come out with their own ideas.
