    Default Weird question (about milk)

My brother has been talking about this milk you can buy at our local grocery store that comes from a small dairy farm outside of town. He said that he really liked it and it was worth the expensive price tag. So anyway, my husband wanted to try some. He picked out the chocolate milk (which is actually whole milk). When we got home, my husband wanted to try it right away. He went to pour some into a glass and it literally "globbed" out of the bottle. Now he's afraid to drink it because its about the consistency of yogurt. He thinks something might be wrong with it. I know this is a long shot, but has anyone had any experience with whole milk products? We have never had them before but I wouldn't have thought the milk would look more like a milk shake.

I've had whole milk before...and it was NEVER like that. Whole milk tends to taste richer and it may be thicker...but it shouldn't be like that!!!

That is completely normal. Just shake it up really well. It's all the cream rising to the top. Yum!

I mean, whole chocolate milk is pretty thick, but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be that globby. I think Maevey is right, it needs to be shaken up.

I've had whole milk only once before, and it never did that. I just remember it tasting really thick.. but maybe maevey is right.. maybe it needs to be shaken a little bit.

try shaking it but if nothing changes just don't drink it and take it back to the grocery store... better safe than sorry...

Alright, I just shook the heck out of that little glass jar. The sides are all coated now and you can't see in there. I took the cap off and looked inside that way. It still looks about the same and something round is floating on the surface now. Like a curd ball or something? ::shudder::

If you shake whole milk too much doesn't it turn to butter? I remember that project from gradeschool.

LMAO!! That is exactly what I was thinking!!

We have bought local whole milk in glass bottles from Whole Foods and it is thicker but never lumpy.

LOL It's the cream. It has formed a mass. No biggie. Really tasty, actually.
