Default Do men ever get "Baby Fever"?

I hear of women with their biological clocks ticking catching the baby bug, but what about men? My husband has been acting so strange lately. All he talks about is having a little junior running around the house. Now this is coming from a guy that will move if we're in a restaurant next to a screaming little brat. So what gives all the sudden?

And to tell you the truth, after my trip to Florida with my niece there... I don't think I ever want to have kids. And she's probably one of the best behaved kids I've ever seen, but NO THANKS if I have to put up with all of the stuff that was going on. Its ridiculous! My sister-in-law goes to bed at 8:30 and sleeps with my niece. No this wasn't because we were on vacation in a strange place, apparently she does this all the time. WTF?! I told my husband that kids at the moment have absolutely no appeal to me whatsoever. He always answers that he knows that and that he isn't ready either. But then he always brings it up again the next day. Why can't he just drop it for now? Sheesh!

Oh, I'll also add that he's 32 (and is almost 6 years older than me). He says he wants to have kids before he's 40... but I won't graduate college until I'm 28 plus I want to have to actually have time for a REAL career to get started first. Ugh!

My husband talked about having another child when we first got married. Then, we had baby mama drama with the kids mom and now, he doesn't want ANY MORE. We have 2 more years and the oldest kid (who lives with us) will be GROWN and we don't have to worry about anything other than ourselves.

I don't want kids. But, I am only 24 (25 next month) - my mom said I will want them when I am 35 or so...but idk...I am a little selfish and I like things to go my way and I like to sleep so it doesn't sound tempting to me.

Maybe the best thing would be borrow your neice overnight, feed her lots of candy - don't let her take a nap...then...let her scream and whine all night and make your husband stay up with her. Perhaps get her all worked up and running around (with a stomach full of sweets) and get her to projectile vomit on your husband.

    Problem solved.

I wonder if its just seeing his niece all the time and how pretty well behaved she is. I mean, she is the most well behaved out of the entire family. His one cousin has one that I swear has ADD. That kid cannot focus on ANYTHING, she's constantly misbehaving and it very hard to keep "entertained". His other cousin's kid is super spoiled by her mom... I'm talking "she gets to skip the turkey and go right for the GIANT bowl of ice cream on Christmas because she was whining about being tired" spoiled.
I don't know... I just don't think I want to give up my freedom like that. I am selfish and I like to do things on my own time whenever I want. There is too much responsibility involved when it comes to kids... plus, I'm pretty sure I would screw them up like my mom did to me. ::sigh:: I wonder if he's just antsy because he knows I won't be able to get pregnant with a snap of the fingers (so to speak). Perhaps he thinks if we wait too long then it won't happen. But the way I see it, if it wasn't meant to be then it wasn't meant to be. Why can't we just adopt if all else fails?

Yes, you could be like Charlotte and Harry on SATC (I have been watching whatever I can)...it's very good.

I'm with you on the whole giving up my life as I want it thing...I have experienced kids in that you can't just do what you want when you want (hey babe ... let's take a train to Chicago this weekend...oh, nevermind...what are we going to do with the kid? Last time we left it alone it tore up the house and invited strangers in)

It could be different with your own kid though. Sometimes you always want what you can't have though and that could be some of the attraction for your husband...

I am sure you will work something out. My mom was told she couldn't have kids because of this or that and she had me and my brother...like you said...if it's meant to be...

Well I only have a period maybe once a year. But actually... I think its been longer than that now. They say I would need to take this drug to trick my pituitary tumor into not producing hormones... but the drug made me really sick the last time I tried taking it.

It sounds like you would have to go through a lot to have kids. If it's not something YOU want for YOURSELF, I wouldn't put your body through the trauma. Whatever is meant to be will happen! There are so many options...

The only reason I got the drug last time was because the endocrinologist INSISTED. I'm actually much happier with things just the way they are... I take my birth control pills as a type of hormone replacement therapy (doctor said I was too young for the other stuff) so I won't have the hot flashes and hair thinning thing going on. ::shrugs:: I guess I really don't feel all the concerned about it at the moment since having children doesn't really appeal to me at the moment. If I ever change my mind, then I'll just have to deal with it then. At least I already know and won't be greatly disappointed or anything.

aww Thanks Nashville!! But, Im not too sure If I would want a girl. Too much worrying and trying to keep the perverted hormone raged teenage boys away (why do you think I take Jiujitsu?!) will make me go bald!!!

If I do have a girl....She will not be allowed to date until shes 35!!!

omg, i've been thinking about a mini-me lately too!!!!! it's really weird, but i've kinda been wanting a kid...just one for now. and i've been half-joking to my BF and he doesn't really mind it when i bring it up (though he use to get annoyed by it). and we were wathcing a movie with a cute little girl and he mentioned how great of a dad he would be. but yeah, i'm the opposite of you BrS - i've kinda had the baby blues lately, lol. i already have a name picked out for a girl, which happens to be Brooke and her middle name would be Lynn.

BUT, i know that it would be stupid of me to pop any littles one out right now because i need to get my career set and aquire financial stability. it's only fair to the kids i have, ya know?

Very pretty name. As long as the baby's daddy's last name is not Bridge.

I grew up with a bad last name, so I got teased a lot.

Well...I think my man is getting baby fever slightly. He is 28 (i'm 23) and he has mentioned a family and what-not. And as for me - while I'm not ready now - I have noted to him that I want to be poppin' out a baby before I'm 30 (hellooooo my biological clock is ticking). Then I was like "well...maybe 32" and he was like "no! because that will make me like 37...I don't want to be that close to fourty to start having a family".

that sucks!! kids are so mean sometimes. as for names - if i have a boy with my man, he automatically is Everett Ellsworth IV (6th?). I have no choice in the matter...although Everett is a really handsome name.
