So what would you suggest for someone who's schedule changes every day? I have to work at different times and in varying amounts of time. I might work 7:00-12:00 one day and 9:00-6:00 the next. I'm not a morning person at all (I just want to sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep), but sometimes its hard to exercise late in the day because of other stuff that's going on.

Yup.. to lose a tummy.. cardio will do it... to make it tone... gotta do crunches.

If you are talking lower stomach... put your legs in the air, cross them, and pull up. It works all your lower stomach muscles.

I'm not a morning person either. Sometimes I'll work out in the AM.. sometimes I work out at night. I would say each day change your plan. And to change into a morning person.. eat something..and take a b complex... you will feel like a totally different person.

Best time to work out is in the AM. It keeps you going all day, and also gets your metabolism going that early in the AM. I would say if you work at 7... wait till after work to exercise. If you work at 9... try to get up at 7.. do a little cardio.. then go to work. If morning seems absolutely impossible.. wait till after dinner to exercise. Just so that all that food you ate in the day is getting worked on. Then after your workout if you feel hungry, eat fruit or yogurt.. something sensible and not too fatty. If you keep that routine you will shed pounds. Even walking around your neighborhood is a good exercise to start out with. It's convenient.. and actually goes by fast because their is stuff to look at.

But don't get discouraged.. I don't know how much you weigh. If you are not normally use to exercising.. if you start a routine of it everyday you will lose weight so fast, but then all of a sudden you can't lose weight. The body does that... it comes to a stand still.. once that happens you have to change up your exercise routine. Make it more rigorous, and do stuff totally different.

Also... if you try toning up at the same time you exercise.. you may look in the mirror but the scale looks the same. Don't be discouraged! Muscle weighs more than fat!

    Any other questions.. ask away.

LOL.. I was going to school to be a nutritionist.. and then I changed my major to journalism.

I'm a major in journalism.. and a minor in sociology.. in case I do decide to go to medical school. Might get a double major and add health.. that way I have my options open.

Love nutrition and helping people with their bodies, and I love writing and broadcasting. It's tough!

Thinking about going back to nutrition, and being a freelance writer.

Marissa - I'm 5'8" and I weight somewhere around 160. I think I'm still considered to be a normal weight, but my tummy is starting to poke out and my pants don't want to fit around my butt anymore. LOL! I think the fact that I have such crazy changing schedules is the reason why I am having such a hard time staying motivated.

That's actually not a bad weight at all for you, considering your height. I would say don't lose any more than 10 pounds for you. But if you wanna tone.. I'd say 15 lbs, that way you give yourself some room to tone up. Tummy, and Butt! Every girls problem area! I've never had a stomach problem, but I have a butt and hip problem! hehe!

Stomach is easy... crunches. But in the stomach we have so many different muscles. The major ones are your upper, lower, and obliques. When you say your stomach is poking out, I'm assuming it's your lower stomach. Tone it up doing crunches. You gotta put your legs in the air, cross them at your feet, and just push up. It's hard as heck! BUT TRUST ME.. it works!!! with your hands though.. you will have to hold onto something heavy.. the exercise is so hard, it makes your head wanna go up too. Be sure to keep head on the ground.

For the booty.. butt ups. Look in the mirror... if you think your booty is getting bigger. Mine does this too when I don't work on it.. so don't worry! Look at your behind.. and see if it sags. It looks as if your butt is low. That means your butt is out of shape. Tone it up doing butt ups. Lay on your back... Knees up.. feet on the floor... and push your butt up and squeeze. Then go back down.. then up again and squeeze. Keep doing that every day... your butt won't sag anymore. You'll look in the mirror and it looks perked up. LOL..

Also.. great cardio.. is Carmen Electra strip tease aerobics. You lose a LOT of weight.. and will teach you sexy moves for your husband! LOL... Also.. I'm telling you... belly dancing is AMAZING for the stomach! I thank belly dancing for my stomach.

Also don't forget... if you dry your pants.. they shrink!!! So it may not be you.. pants tend to shrink and make us think we are gaining weight!

The ab workout.. it's as if.. someone is grabbing your feet and pulling you up! It's incredibly hard.. but will give you AMAZING results!

Don't worry... tons of people have crazy schedules. My brother moved to Orlando FL.. and gained 30 lbs!!! He also has a weird schedule.. everyday is a different time. I say.. before you work out.. take something that will energize you. Even if its a tiny bit sugar.. you don't have to worry.. because as soon as you work out.. you are going to lose it. At first it will seem so hard.. but once you get into a routine.. it's easy. You will make yourself workout.

And it's ok to give your body breaks. I only work out 5 days a week... an hour and a half each time. But I'm use to it... and hour is fine for you. And I refuse to work out everyday... I need breaks! The days I don't work out though.. I'm make sure I'm not sitting on my butt. I'm active around my house on those days.

If you ever have any questions.. don't be scared to ask.. I'll answer anything. My brother and pretty much all my family and friends get a hold of me all the time.. to ask me questions. I don't mind at all.. and will never get annoyed. I love this stuff. : o )

My friend just called me the other day.. and asked if it was ok to eat ceasar salad and pizza at 9 PM at night. She goes to bed at like 4 AM.. so it was fine for her. Average person.. that's bad! LOL...

Marissa - No, it's more like a pooch. My abs are actually pretty firm. If you look at my lower abdomen, you'll see its really flat down at the very bottom. But then when you get to about 3-4 inches below my belly button, there is a serious bulge poking out (you can actually see a line/crease where it begins). It's like a squishy pillow of fat there. Then I get skinny again as you move up towards my ribs.

Pretty much everything below your belly button are your lower abs. anything above your belly are your upper abs. It's just a problem area for you. Everyone has different one. When we gain weight.. it goes to different parts of our body.. mine is the hips. When I gain weight.. you can see it right at my hips. Some girls are lucky and it goes straight to their boobs. I say just do cardio exercises.. and ab workouts.. especially the one I told you where you push your legs up. That will work that whole section below your belly button.. fair warning though.. it is going to be so sore you won't be able to bend over.

When you wake up in the morning.. drink a really cold glass of water. That also helps to lose weight. Makes you go pee right away. Every morning do that.. then drink lots of water throughout the day.

Well, I'll see if I can't try a little harder. I just get so discouraged after exercising for awhile and then not seeing any results. So then I quit for awhile and drown my sorrows in food. But I'll give it another go, you seem to think it's going to work Marissa so I'll believe you.

Don't get discouraged!! Trust me.. I help people all the time with this. I can help you...I don't mind AT ALL. It will work trust me. I got my Mom to lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks (she is 5'7 weighs 180 at the time). Cardio 1 hour a day, drink 6-8 bottles (or glasses they are equivalent) of water a day. Make sure you don't eat 3 hours before your bed time. If you want meal plans... let me know. I can type it all up for you.

    Great foods to eat:

Salad (put stuff in it.. so you don't feel like a rabbit), GRILLED Chicken, Baked Potato, Yogurt, Fruit (esp. apples, oranges and grapefruit... those are the weight loss fruits), Turkey Sandwiches, Veggies, etc.

Remember fattiest fruits are banana, and avocado.. don't eat too much of those. And stay away from fruits in a can (those are preserved, have lots of JUNK in them to keep it fresh), and the mixed fruits. Fruits like GRAPPLE... mix between a grape and an apple. Those are actually fruits that are grown in a lab. Don't substitute that as eating a piece of fruit. It DOES NOT have the same nutrition value. It's not bad for you, but it just does nothing for you.

If eating red meat... make sure the piece is no bigger than the size of your fist!

Don't deprive yourself.. treat yourself once a week! If you start a diet on Sunday... treat yourself next Sunday with something you really wanna eat (fried food, sweets, etc).

I was eating a sandwich for lunch all the time (turkey or chicken) until the doctor told me not to eat bread. Also, are Sunchips okay to eat. I like to have a "chip" every once in awhile, but these are multigrain and they have lots of unsaturated fat in them.

Also, does it matter if you can't have a meal schedule? Like I said before, my work schedule is ridiculous. Well, I can't have lunch the same time everyday. It's not by choice, there has to be coverage at work and sometimes there isn't until a certain time or after a certain time. So lunch for me can be 11:00 or 2:00 or anywhere in between. And we're NOT allowed to have food or drink with us while working.
