Do you mean like holistic? Because I don't believe in taking vaccines, any type of medications, etc. I take a laundry list of vitamins and supplements on a regular basis, supplemented by daily exercise and a mostly organic diet (with occasional treats) ... basically, I take really good care of my body and I'm never sick.
What are you talking about exactly?

If love is the answer, what is the question?
Homeopathy and Ayurveda (use of herbal medicine) are traditional forms of medicine practiced in India. Most people still rely on them. I have never heard of pets being treated with homeopathy!
My dad has been taking homeopathy medicine for skin problems for the past 32 years. Many of my friends and family members take them. It is very effective in the control of blood pressure and other infections too. The greatest plus point about homeopathy is that it will be either effective in treatment, or will have no effect at all. I have never experienced, heard or seen it have negative effects. So it is safe to take without the worry of side effects.
Hope this helps.

Yes, that's what I meant, a holistic approach compared to conventional meds or treatments. Thanks so much for commenting. I've had very limited experience with herbal type remedies and was wondering what other people think.

Thanks for commenting. Yes, there are a growing number of vets treating pets via holistic/integrative/homeopathic approaches. A lot of conventional meds are based on old world plants but they can cause more side effects than natural treatments. Your response has been very helpful to me. I'm still slowly forming ideas about homeopathy. There's limited info on the web. Maybe I have to go to the library or bookstore but people's stories/experiences are invaluable whether it is for or against natural remedies.

Well, I know the homeopathic allergy medicines don't work. At least not for me anyway.
I'm not sure if conventional allergy treatment is in essence similar to homeopathic allergy treatments but from what I've read, they sound slightly similar. I think there's a place in this world for both types of treatments but I'm ever so curious to know if one is more effective than the other? I don't mean just for allergies but for other issues as well.

Hmm... well, my grandma's husband doesn't believe in doctors or medicines. Everything is herbal remedies and supplements with him. He's been doing it all his life and he's in surprisingly good health considering his age. He tried to "cure" my grandma and my parents believe it was his "treatments" that lead to her eventual death. Sorry, I guess I'm not helping very much here. I guess I think taking supplements is okay, but when you start getting into the extreme stuff things can get pretty scary. Just remember that just because something is "natural" or "herbal" does not mean that it can't have side effects. That stuff isn't monitored by the FDA either.
