    Default I am allergic to a certain type of antibiotic !!

    I was really sick for about a week . I wasn't getting any better so I went to the Dr. He said that I had a sinus infection and prescribed me a Z pack of antibiotics (Azithromycin). I took my last pill last night and felt sooo awful with a headache, nervousness, chills/fever, and weakness. This morning I slapped my alarm clock and went to the washroom and I had a rash on my arm , face, and torso. I went back to the Dr. and I am indeed allergic the the Z pack of antibiotics !!!!! So on top of being sick with some sort of infection - I am even SICKER with a terrible reaction to the antibiotics. I am on a diffferent set of antibiotics now , but it was sure scary this morning !!!

    AWWW i hope you feel better soon.. just take lot of water and sleeping time.. Here i thought dr.. suppose to make u feel better not sicker...

    That's awful Bex! I have taken the Z Pack for sinus infections before and I loved it. It knocked the crap out of my infection! LOL! Too bad it didn't work out for you. I hope you feel better.

    I had something similar happen to me when i was little, except my reaction was to penicillin, and it subsided pretty soon after i stopped taking the penicillin. Sorry that happened to you.

    I am so sorry, I am glad nothing worse happened to you. You must have been so scared you poor thing. This is serious, Gosh you are so lucky!! please have your doctor test you to avoid another allergic reaction to antibiotics.

    When I was little I was miss diagnosed with MVP (Mitral valve prolapse) and my mom was told I needed to take antibiotics every time I visit my dentist and go under "invasive" procedures such as surgeries, etc. Then I moved here to USA and I when I went to see my dentist I was told that after many years of research the American Heart Association did not find necessary for MVP patients to take antibiotics. I did not take them for the longest time and I had a lot of work done. A few years passed by and I started feeling weird, turns out I didn't have MVP but BAV (Bicuspid aortic valve) and I was very lucky I never got a strong enough infection that my blood flood could not clean and my body could not fight. *Sigh*

    aww, that sucks Bex! I hope you feel better soon, and the double whammy of sickness goes away fast! I'm allergic to an antibiotic too (penicillin) and it kinda sucks; two summers ago when I got a bug bite on my arm that swelled up, they couldn't give me penicillin so they gave me ciprofloxacin which is crazy powerful...it was a little scary. I had to eat yogurt everyday while I was taking it to replace all my good bacteria that it was killing lol
    Now on a BAN!

    That stinks Bex. I love Z pack! It works so well on me. I found out I was allergic to Penicillin when I was really little and I had to go to the emergency room because I broke out in hives. I'm glad you're okay now. I hope you feel better soon.

    Thanks for all the get better good wishes--- I am now on Amoxclav -- I think I am having some weird side effects to it too (bloated up ... ugh ) -- but if I don't break out in hives and have a bad fever I guess it will be tolerated for awhile ---Dr. suggested I take another day off and come back tomorrow or even Thursday if I didn't feel great yet -- I am a bit better , but not quite there yet
