This is what Maevey and I were talking about. There are now claims that distilled water may not be good for you to drink because it is highly reactive with the environment. Distilled water has an extremely low concentration of dissolved substances, which would mess with the concentration gradient within the body... or something like that.

Re: Bottled Water
Hmm, would that be the same as purified water? We buy "purified by reverse osmosis".

Re: Bottled Water
I also read an article on bottled water and did you know that it takes 1 litre of crude oil to make a 500ml size plastic bottle What with oil being a fossil fuel that we are using up rapidly as it is, and is often the cause of conflicts between nations, I never drink bottled water, or anything in plastic.

There's a ton of information but I grabbed these two quickly.
Distillation - Pros and Cons
Facts about Distilled Drinking Water
The difference I see with my Aerogarden is substantial though, using distilled water. The same with my floor steamer. But that is strictly mineral build up within the containers and around the edges. When you think about what regular water does to our systems, again the mineral build up over time, I think I'll risk distilled.

Re: Bottled Water
I have no problem drinking tap water or well water- if it tastes good. With that said, OKC has the worst, worst, worst tasting water I've ever had. I can not drink it. I don't even cook with it because it taints my food. This is in part because of all the fluoride they pump into the water. Even the water bottled locally (Ozarka, blech) tastes terrible.
I agree that the bottles are a huge burden on our earth and resources, the glass bottle is an interesting alternative. I'll have to check that out.

Re: Bottled Water
At home we drink filtered tap water because our city water is brown. It may meet EPA standards at the reservoir, but perhaps the pipes between here and there are not up to par. I try and remember to take water with me everywhere but sometimes it isn't always possible.
As a child I just drank out of the garden hose. I think I've filled up on my minerals for life.
