Default Weather treated cotton dooney bags

One of my gripes with D&B is that they don't have weather-treated cotton (coated-canvas) bags for the adult crowd. All of it seems like it's made for teenagers. I wanted a cheap bucket bag that resembled my LV that I could carry everyday (and to maintain the LV's longevity, hehe). Instead, all I saw was this:

Seriously, what is up with this?! I hate the heart charm, and I really hate that pink trim surrounding the leather trim. It's a nice sized bag, and I know this thing can last quite a while. But would I even WANT this bag? I'm certainly not getting any younger, and I can't imagine myself holding something like this past 24 (if I even get to tolerate it that long). The rest of the bags that they had were in the jacquard-like fabric, and I know people complain about the stain-resistance of the fabric D&Bs.

For now, I'll just save my money and spend elsewhere like Burberry or Coach.

So very true, and I dont think we can expect to see a collection with that anytime soon, if it all. Their label has completely shifted for the worse within the last couple years. . . most of their bags nowadays are for teenagers (and pre) but they do have a couple nice collections that I like, that aren't too teenagish . . . have seen their all-weather leather bags ?

Seriously, this is one of the only collections from dooney that I like

The all-weather leather bags are actually something I could see myself carry...one of them reminds me of the Hermes Birkin. I was kinda disappointed with the Nubuck collection...I got to see it in real life, and it wasn't my style...all I kept thinking was "if I saved a little more, I could just get an LV." Also, the alto selection is really pretty good, and I've only heard good things about that collection.

Their Croco style is going cheap at the outlet ($60 of what was originally $450 ) as well as the denim collection. They have a ton of sales for the signature collection, but I know I would steer clear of those bags (because, much like the Coach jacquard handbags, stains may be difficult to remove).

I don't think having a coated-canvas collection for adults will hurt their business, esp. since a lot of people make fun of what they have now. And it's not like LV is the only company that does coated-canvas...Burberry, Dior, Fendi, and Gucci have done the same thing.

But alas, I know this is only wishful thinking. For now,

I agree that some of the prints are pretty kiddie looking... but some of them aren't THAT bad. Just the regular IT bags in black are grown-up enough for me. But, you're right, the could try doing a less um... colorful print.

^Oh, no, I wasn't trying to diss D&B. I was ranting because I wanted a more "adult" version of weather-treated cotton bags. All their weather-treated cotton bags are too juvenile for my tastes, and it seems that D&B are only going to stick with jacquard fabric for the signature collection. And I'm not a fan of jacquard fabric.

Perhaps they will come out with something soon... the other prints do seem to be doing pretty well, you would think they would try to fit everyone's tastes at some point.

I agree, they certainly seem to be aiming themselves at a young market with these designs.

I almost bought that bag, I think all the things you listed about it that you hate are the things I like! And I'm almost past 24, even. I think I like to go for the cute styles more than the elegant because I don't have many occassions to dress up, and with the clothes I normally wear, people would assume if I were carrying sophistocated bag, it's fake. Or else it's that I'm fashionably stunted... ya know, either way.

I'm 24, will be 25 in May, and I've basically decided that Dooney and Burke is one of my ultimate favourite designers just from pictures, and I don't own any of their bags.

I love cute culture, I love feeling young and having young pretty design bags. The last thing I want is boring colors and fabrics. Many adult styles I've seen are just far far too boring and a little icky to me.

I know there are some people my age who are not trend setters or followers, who just don't like the LV brown and gold color combo, no matter how ritzy it is because they just hate the colors. I personally dont' like the LV colors, only the multicolor and jean designs.

In the world of handbags there is something for everyone. If Dooney and Burke are finding themselves more successful apealing to younger people than I suppose thats what they are going to design. :) I personally will be 20 until I'm dead, and no botox required. Lol! XD
