From the debut of a few pricey pieces here and there, it looks like Coach is trying to step out of their league and compete with high-end handbag designers, therefore achieving exclusivity on some of their products. Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed that within the past year or so, Coach has increased their prices to the point where many of their bags are now comparable in cost to designers like Louis Vuitton. One example is the new Juliette Metallic Hobo, which is a "modern take on a timeless design" featuring woven silver leather detailing...and priced at $1100.
Honestly, I would never blow my bag budget on a Coach bag, and especially not this one. Don't get me wrong because there are plenty of bags that I like by Coach, and I own a few by them. And I am somewhat of a fan of their new Juliette Hobo bag. But $1100 for THIS? I don't see where they got the idea that this bag is worth that high price. I can somewhat understand their $3000 Python Satchel since genuine skins are used, but there is nothing special or magnificent about THIS bag. Ok, so there are some woven details here and there...but so what? I mean if I specifically wanted a handbag with those details, for a few hundred dollars more I could snag a precious piece from the designer God of all woven purses, Bottega Venetta, for example. So, what do you think about the new Juliette Hobo by Coach?
The most I would drop on a coach would be $500 and then it would have to be something special. My Carly was $348 and worth every penny, and I got my other two for under $200.
For $1,100 I would definately buy another Louis Vuitton! Plus...for that much you really need to get somethign timeless and classic. I think the Metallic leather will be out in a couple of years...
RIGHT!! I would NEVER, ever, pay that for Coach, lol!! Is it me, or are they trying to be "higher-end"?

I thought this bag was cute too... but the price is absolutely insane. But like I have said before, Coach seems to be making an attempt to appear as though they were a high end designer. They've been trying to attract a different sort of customer lately, but I don't think its working. This is what I would call a "casual" handbag purchase since its metallic and trendy. But anyone what would be able to afford to casually spend $1100 on a bag would more than likely buy an LV rather than a Coach bag. Know what I mean?

The python bag is gorgeous and all...but I am NOT paying that much for anything by coach...or for a handbag period. I'll take diamonds or maybe a new car...
Coach is trying to break into more expensive handbags and up its prices, but I don't think that's a good idea for them. They're great as "affordable luxury" and to me, they're charging more and more for bags but they mass-produce their stuff in China. I don't think many people are going to drop over a grand for a Coach when you can get a less-mass-produced, good quality bag like a Balenciaga or something for that much.
