I have only bought my Coach items from either department stores or Coach. I have not bought anything at the Outlet yet? Are the items at the Outlet as good as department or the Coach store?
I've been to the one in Woodbury Commons in NY and it seems to have a lot of offerings for Coach lovers. One of my friends likes Coach and she always speaks highly of the outlets. She's from LA so I assume there's a few Coach outlets nearby. She says they're about two seasons behind but you can expect up to 75% discounts, as well as made-for-outlet items.
I get mine from department stores, the Coach store, and occasionally from TJ Maxx/Marshalls.

what are made for outlet only items ... can you give me a few examples.

I asked my friend to elaborate...She says most of the outlet items will have their original retail price tag. The made-for-outlet items will specifically be labeled COACH FACTORY on their price tag. These items are not factory seconds, she stresses. These are of the same quality you would expect from Coach. Some pieces might be from collections that ended up being scrapped for mass production. Some pieces are capsule collections they use to test the market. (Coach relies heavily on market research...analysts will compile all sales data and see which prints/styles/leathers have been most popular which creates a forecast for future items) So you can actually snap up a prototype of next season's bag before it even hits retailers.
She also adds...if you have know or have an idea of the bag you want, the outlet SA can ship it out to you. Oh, and she says COACH Factory Store is the official/preferred title (not COACH Outlet....oops)
Thank you for going to so much trouble. I am looking forward to going to the COACH Factory Store in late Feb. early March. My sister is taking me shopping for the day and we are stopping there....WOO HOO!
Another bit of info...COACH Factory purchases can be returned for credit/exchange at any Coach store...just in case you you have a change of heart after your outlet trip.
I don't think I'd ever buy a Coach bag from ebay though. The fakes are getting better and better.

I get my either from the Coach store or from Bloomingdales. I've shopped the Outlet a few times but can't seem to find too much of what I want there. Plus, it's a long drive. I've bought a few things on eBay. If you are careful, you can find very nice authentic items.
There is an awesome outlet store in LA. I used to go nuts there. It was in the outlet place that was in a not-so-nice area. I could never understand that.
I miss the outlets. We have several here in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, but I havent' ventured over there yet. I don't have enough hours in the day and I refuse to go shopping with my children. Right now all of my shoppping is done online or for an hour here, an hour there.
Well, I always go and check out the outlet store which is like 15 minutes away from me. The Coach store is an hour away so i never really go there. And sometimes when I go to the mall, which is like 25 minutes from where I live, I'll check out the dept. stores that sell Coach. But I always buy from the outlet store because they have amazing deals there and the one that we have always has a nice selection!
