Hi all
This is my first post. I recently bought 2 second hand coach bags. I am new to them, I don't normally go in for designer bags, but these were so cheap I could not resist them. I would like to know if someone can help me to find out if they are indeed real. I called Coach and they said I would need to mail them the bags for them to make a determination, but it would probably cost more to mail them than it cost me to purchase them.
The first one has a serial number of 0912-243. It is pretty old and has been well loved but I thought it was cool. I have been reading up a bit on what to look for. The zippers on both have YKK.
The second one has a serial number of M7C-9098, also with this one, there is "FS" stamped on the top left just outside of the creed square, it is upside down, hope that makes sense, does this mean that this bag is a second??
Any info anyone could give me would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Fay
Thanks for answering so quickly, here are the pics of the 2 bags, this is the first bag, as you can see it is quite old. It has nothing on it other than the creed inside. The zipper does have the YKK stamped on it, but there is no tag and none of the hardware is stamped with the coach logo.
Here is the second bag, having a bit of trouble with attaching the pics, hope they come in ok. This bag is newer, the leather is a bit stiffer. It seems to have all of the things it is supposed to, on the bottom front of the bag there is the coach logo and underneath it says New York.
Okay, both bags look fine to me. They are vintage bags and Coach did not follow the same serial format back then as they do now. As for the FS stamp, this simply means that the handbag was sent from a Coach store to another market like an outlet store or TJ Maxx type store because the style had been discontinued. The FS means Final Sale and therefore the warranty has been voided on the bag.

One more thing please, the second bag, the one that says New York under the Coach logo on the front of the bag, is this one of the bags that is thought of to be rare because it has NY stamped on it? I am going to put this bag up for sale and want to be sure that I am saying the right thing. Thanks so much.

Um... I don't believe so because it has a later format for the serial number. For the bag to be one of the rare New York ones, it wouldn't have a serial number and it would say made in New York City, USA beneath the creed. These are the original bags that were made in the 1960s I believe. Your bag has the format that was created either in the late 80s or early 90s. I believe that Coach had gone through a phase where they were trying to bring attention to their birthplace (or something like that, hence the "Coach New York")... but their factories had already moved to other parts of the US. Also, there wouldn't be an FS stamp on it because there was no such thing as outlets for Coach back then.

LOL! I just read where you asked me how I got so smart. Um... I'm not really THAT smart, but I do do a lot of reading about fake handbags. Plus I do own some Coach.

Well sweetie, I think you are smart. I want to thank you so much for all your help, I really appreciate it. I may be back on here if I have the good fortune to find any more bargains. I actually went to the local coach store here yesterday (it is inside our new Dillards store) and just drooled all over the cases of beautiful bags. I did drop a few hints to my husband, but you know guys, he just grunted. I live in hope.
Speak soon
Thanks again
