Question Keep or Not to Keep-- heeeere's Julia!

Hello All-- First thread on the bag forum, and i'm starting out with an opinion. i recently purchase the new Julia Bag from the Legacy Thompson line, and i'm curious what you all think.

It was a whopping $698-- by far THE most i've EVER spent on a bag, but really the quality is superb. I just wanted to see what your opinions were. Enjoy the pics and let me know what you think.

I would spend the $698 towards a LV Speedy 30 or a Neverfull bag. This Coach bag will be so last season in a couple of months and the Speedy is timeless. Just my opinion.

I love it! If you love it too then I'd say keep it! Does it feel comfy on your shoulder? Does it fit everything in there that you like to routinely keep in your bag? I too bought my first Coach bag a very short time ago and it too was the most money I'd ever spent on a bag. However, it was well worth it, I love it so very much. I too was impressed with the quality. Before buying that first Coach I had only purchased Nine West, Liz Claiborne and Fossil. I've looked at other brand name and designer bags but I keep coming back to Coach, I love their style. I've already got my eye on a few others, they're addictive.

How refreshing to see a Coach bag that's not patchwork, CC's all over, or plain leather comebacks. I thought I'd never see a Coach I'd like these days. This one proved me wrong. Really like the weave trims on the edges. I've seen the lining before and it works as a great contrast.

    Cute bag overall.

I love it and love the brown. I own on coach and one tignanello. If you love it then keep it. I have not issues with the bag I am carrying being last season or a few years old. I am amazed at my first coach almost a year old and looks great. I will be getting another one come March.

If you like it, keep it. I personally wouldn't spend that much on Coach though.

I've never like the Legacy collection. So the opinion I'm giving you will be a bit biased.

For 700 dollars, I would spend it on a Speedy. The only things I like on it is the Legacy Stripe inside and the tag.

I agree. I would pass for something more classic.

Is nice but almost 700... hmm what I could get for that??? I hate when that pops in my mind... if you like then fine, for my taste is nice and cute but for the price around it or a few more I could get one of the modern ones that could turn into a classic in a few yrs, but who knows maybe this baby will prove us wrong and I hope so :D Anyway if yu thing the almost 700 buck is worth it for the use you give and feel no remorse then is a keeper. Who knows maybe in the family could inheritate this bag.

It's a nice bag, the price is a little steep. I agree with Jennifer in that for the money, I would invest in something with a more classic feel. Still, if you are in love with this bag, then it's worth every penny that you spent and I wish you much happiness while wearing it!

I know this thread is old but I though I could add a little insight...

    Do you love this bag?

I agree with most of the comments that $698 is a bit high for Coach.

In the industry, Coach is generally considered a Bridge label. It is a common brand consumers buy before they commit to a designer purchase (kinda like dipping your foot into the shallow end of the designer pool). Coach items are seldom made in the USA and almost never in Europe. They tend to use underdeveloped locations (China, Costa Rica, etc.) where materials and labor are cheap. Most companies will produce bags where they acquire their leathers/fabrics. This keeps production costs low since shipping back and forth is not cost effective.

When you buy a designer item, you are paying for the expert craftsmanship (by experienced tradesmen who work under labor laws), the quality material (finest leathers sourced in Spain/Italy/France) and the high import costs (and yes, of course the name). I think your money could be better spent elsewhere not just because of name, but because of actual value.

But Do you love this bag? If so, then it is definitely worth every penny.

(I am certainly guilty of owning an overpriced Juicy bag)

Newbie here. Please keep the bag. I have many Coach bags in my collection that date back to 1990. They all look and feel wonderful. They only get better with age. Don't worry about the "so last season" mentality, because every bag gets old as soon as you bring it home and snip off the price tag.

I also have a Damier Speedy 25 LV that is the same price as your Coach. I enjoy feeling and wearing my Coach leather bags much more than the vinylized canvas of my LV, which is overpriced for what it is, even though it is a classic icon. It lacks the features of my Coach. Furthermore, LV is NOT made in Europe--at least not the ones you buy in the USA. I bought my LV directly from the LV store in Metro Chicago. I cannot find the origin label anymore, but I believe it was made in the U.S.A. If you are concerned about sweatshops and really like the look of the bag, then LV is for you. If you are buying strictly for status, don't.

Many status bags aren't made in France or Italy anymore, and even those bags no longer guarantee quality. Chinese leather has improved a lot in the last 10 years. The true way to determine quality is the look and feel of the leather or stitching. The country of origin is no longer a reliable quality indicator.
