Coach Designer Stuart Vevers and The It Bag

It’s been a forever since the term "It Bag" has been used. And while there are still It Bags out there, (Rebecca Minkoff MAC and 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli are classic examples) the term is dated. Coined in the 1990’s during the explosive growth of the handbag market, designers would create one or two pieces that they would put on a pedestal, using marketing and celebrity endorsement to make it the “bag of the moment.” Then about 5 years ago people started veering away from the term- it got a bit old. But like I said, even though the term is now a tad dated, there are still “bags of the season” out there.

The new designer over at Coach Handbags- Stuart Vevers, is famous for creating “It Bags” wherever he goes: the Luella Bartley Gisele, Givenchy Pumpkin and Mulberry Emmy were all created under his watch. He recently made his major debut of the Coach 2014 Bag Collection..
Wonder what next creation of his will reach that It Bag status. No pressure or anything..
