I bought what I thought was an authentic Coach hobo, Janice's Legacy.
However, it arrived in the pale beige bag, with "Coach" on it.
The tag on the outside is raised. However, the Coach info on the inside of the bag is not sewn on, rather it is imprinted. It is on the middle divider, not on the front or the back of the inside. It does have a "No" with the three letters, followed by a hyphen and then the 9550.
I am concerned it's fake because of (a) the bag, and (b) the imprint, rather than the sewn tag stating it's a coach bag.
Ouch! Sounds like a fake to me. Can you take pictures and post them? A serial number typically begins with No, then there are 4 digits, a dash, and then 4 more digits. The last 4 digits are actually the style number of the bag.

Is this the bag?
The classic styles do have the creed stamped on the inside (not sewn on a patch), plus I think some of the older serial numbers (REALLY old) have 3 digits and then 4 digits... but some of the other factors you are describing seem suspicious. Does the dust cover look like the fake ones shown on this page? Spot a Fake Coach Bag | Designer Bag & Purse Blog

Edit:
Ah! Finally found a pic of that style's creed: http://i3.ebayimg.com/03/i/07/f4/03/c1_1_sbl.JPG

Yes! That's the bag. And the creed is stamped on the inside. I actually was looking at this article earlier, and unfortunately, the dust bag, is one that is shown as fake!
I am going to try to see if I can find the ykk on the zipper.
Thank you for helping.
I still feel like an idiot. I got caught up in the frenzy of ebay bidding. When I checked the seller's feedback originally, she had a 100% feedback score.
Now that I go back to check, I see that a lot of that feedback is really from her buying, not all from selling.
Not a problem!
Hey, I just thought of something. Is this a used bag or a new bag? Like I mentioned before, Coach did use 3 digits plus 4 digits... but it was a LONG time ago. I wonder if a classic style is kept for a very long time (manufactured for a long time I mean) if the serial number will stay the same that entire time. Hmm...
Yes, your description of the dust cover has me worried. But if it is a used bag, there's no tellin how old it really is. It is possible it has one of the old serial numbers that starts with only 3 digits (this is from the 70's I think). I may have jumped to gun saying its a fake... I was under the assumption it was a new bag. I guess all I can say it get some pics of it on here so everyone can have a look. We'll be able to tell if its real if the pics are detailed enough.
Oh i'm so sorry about your problem... i'll cross my fingers for you and hope your bag is real... gosh I hate fakes... and next time you decide to buy on ebay... don't hesitate and ask one of us bloggers.... we are sure to know... the YKK zipper should be on an athentic bag... which yours has, right? But I wonder why you would get a fake dustbag w/ your bag??? hmm.... Best thing to do is post Pics. ASAP!!!! Did the seller have some return policy or something??
