Default Re: Coach Handbag: Please help authenticate purse! (Part 2)

Before discovering this forum last night, I foolishly decided to go bag shopping on eBay. Since I've never owned a "designer" purse, I decided to see what kind of vintage designer bags I could land for under 40$. Once you all stop laughing, you'll probably be able to anticipate my question. I won the bid on four different bags, 2 Dooney's and 2 Coach. The first bag I won in auction arrived today. It matches perfectly with the description in the ebay listing:

    eBay auction number: 250750865340
(sorry it won't let me post links yet)

It appears the creed has a partial stamp leading zero in the serial number. The other numbers 33-0933 are very clear and the creed states it was made in New York City. I tried googling 033-0933 and got no hits. I won't be crushed if the bag is a fake since it was my foolishness trying to get it so cheap ($12.50) and its a cute leather bag which would be worth the price even if it wasn't authentic. If it is fake though, I want to notify the seller and give her a chance to remove the other designer handbags she has listed too rather than keep selling them to gullible fools like me. So the question is, is this a fake?

Do you have a better pic of the creed? Theirs is blurry. I don't think it's necessarily fake, very old vintage bags did not have the same number format as the newer ones. So the number probably isn't the style number and, hence, the lack of results when you search for it.

Its tough to see the creed given how small the bag is. This is the best my camera seems to do:

I'm no expert when it comes to really old vintage bags, but I don't see anything that would make me think this bag is a fake. It says that the bag was made in NYC, so that would mean it is from the 1960s.

even with the tiny creed, i would say the bag and the stitching looks good to me. I do own some vintage Coach's myself and unfortunately their resale value is lousy...so don't be surprised at the low price you scored

Thank you all for the feedback on the leather purse. I got the "Signature" purse I also won today from a different person on eBay. After reading some of the articles written on identifying a fake, I'd have to call this mutt the perfect example. Not only is the signature C not symetrical but the creed itself is mostly unreadable and not etched into the tag. Even the stitching on the trim looks low quality. The sad thing is I paid about 3 times for this bag what I paid for what appears to be authentic. I'm guessing the seller is not going to give a refund based on her all sales final message in the posting.

Is it unethical for me to post negative feedback reporting that the bag is a fake? This person currently has 100% positive feedback which is why I thought it was a safe purchase.

^^^ Compare yours to this one.

COACH Brown Mahogany Signature Zoe Hobo Bag Purse 6070 - eBay (item 250748621689 end time Jan-04-11 11:21:53 PST)

You're right about the alignment of the pattern. Can you post a pic of the creed?

The creed looks like it was barely embossed. I think they were trying to give the impression it had worn down but the rest of the bag, especially the interior, doesn't reflect the wear needed to make the creed text so faint. The bag is definitely the same style as the other bag you posted but the other bag has the symmetrical pattern for the logo I was expecting from my research. This bag is a hot mess when you look at the pattern.

Did you notice the creed says the bag is made of glove tanned leather? Your suspicions are right, this bag is definitely a fake. They tried very hard to match the style number up to the style. But the horrible pattern alignment, lining, and awful creed give it away. I'm glad there was an authentic one for you too look at so you could see.

Contact the seller and try to get your money back. You can leave negative feedback, but get your money back first!

I couldn't even read the creed before the photo. Its really faintly stamped. The good news is the woman who sold it is offering a credit back to Paypal if I send it back. I noticed she's selling a lot of "designer" bags. Wonder if any of them are real.

I looked at their other stuff. The leather Coach bag looks okay. It could be an honest mistake if the seller is obtaining these items from different sources and is unfamiliar with the brand.

Default Re: Coach Handbag: Please help authenticate purse! My 1st Coach!

Hi! Please help me for my first Coach!
I've a question about a deal on a set of bag and two wallets.
The seller is a Top-rated seller, and says that the items are 100% original.
I can not tell from photos if they are real or fake.
Can you help me? The price seems very good, so I have many doubts...
Here's the number of the auction : 400124628965

    Thanks a lot!!!

^^^ It looks okay from what I can see. I think it all just came from an outlet. Can you get a pic of the creed?

    Thanks for the answer!!
But the photo of the bottom of the bag seems to have the fabric not centered on the right...the big wallet also seems to have the fabric slightly different on the left compared to the right, as if they had cut the fabric slightly upper than the right side...and also the slim wallet has the fabric all "shifted" by one side.
I don't know what to think because I did not mean at all about Coach bags (maybe I do not know how Coach make its bags), but the shipping costs and customs fees are quite high, then I do not want to make a mistake...

    Thanks for your help!!!!!!!
