Were there more pictures? The auction has a bunch of broken images.

Default Coach bag - real or fake?

I just bought a tan pebble Coach bag, no hang tag, serial number E9P-6803 at a reputable consignment store that I go to often. The consignment store insists that it's real, but I think it's a fake because it doesn't smell like leather and the serial number is questionable. Is there a way I can check to see if it's authentic and also, to check if it's real leather? It looks very nice, has nice stitching, but do not see "YKK zipper" and although the pull on the outer zipper says "Coach", it's metal and the inside pull is metal. It has a black stripe fabric lining. I found similar ones in the "Sonoma" style on eBay, and it seems this is supposed to have an oblong bottom, but this one is more like a rectangle. Also, it doesn't really smell like leather. Thanks for any information. See pictures below.

The serial number on the tag is Mo794-F10925
If my understanding is correcta coach authentic bag has only four numbers after the dash and that is what the style is. Am I correct? This is a great replica!! And I am MAD!! L
    Thanks!
The last 5 numbers are to "Signature Flap". Can't see your bag so I can't tell if it's right/wrong.

I'm not too good with vintage Coach. If this bag is authentic, then that would mean it was made in the 1970s before they stopped making the bags in New York. The serial number (which were unique back then) exhibits the correct format. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Hi All :-)

Can I get your opinion on this bag please? It's obviously an older bag so I am having a difficult time finding info on it. Thanks!

I just added pictures to my post, #227 and two more in this post, so I'm hoping that someone would have some ideas for me about this Coach bag which I think is fake. Thanks.

The Sonoma collection had this lining and it was made in Costa Rica. What bothers me are the zipper pulls. When you look at other Sonoma bags, the exterior zipper pull has a very distinct look to it. It is metal and it is like a mini coach hang tag. There is a raised border around the edge and the word Coach is also raised. Look at some other ones on ebay that show the zipper pull, you will see what I mean.

ANyone? I know its old but someone has to know something about it. Please don't tell me is a fake. I'd cry lol. Ok for 42 bucks I won't cry but I will be definitely disappointed :-)

Annstnt, it is an older style bag. But it looks good to me. Also, the seller has very good feedback, which is important too.

Yeah thats what I thought. I wouldn't have even bothered if the feedback wasn't so good. I been trying to find the style name of it and I have come up with a big goose egg. The only thing that worried me about maybe a possibility of a fake was the dark zipper material. The zipper itself is metal but the background is black or dark blue on the white leather and looked odd to me. But I have no knowledge of vintage Coach bags so it may be perfectly common. Or the zipper had been replaced at some point maybe?<p><br>

Thank you for the input FedUp! Comforting to know at least it appears to be a real Coach :-)

I have another bag on eBay which looks nice, serial number H6M-4907. It looks like it might be a Coach factory bag. Is this a good buy? Thanks.

Thank you for your input. The zipper pull on this bag does not have the raised border, etc. as you describe. I am somewhat convinced this bag is a fake and is made of plastic. I am probably going to re-consign at the same consignment store. I am now looking at one on eBay below, although the "No Returns" makes me nervous. The seller says she bought it at a Coach store 12 years ago but she didn't answer my question as to whether or not it was from a Coach Factory Store. Hmmm.
