Fresh for this summer and for every sista' out there, Dior has come out with a new Gipsy Clutch bag...wait a second, lets back up here. A Gipsy clutch bag?! So does this mean that Dior is making a little tribute to Gipsy style? But who ever said the word Gipsy is politically correct anyways? Let's have a quick little chat on that...
According to wikipedia.com, the word Gipsy (Gypsy) refers to an ethnic group of Roma people, and is derived from Egypt from the belief that these Roma people originated from there. Also, the Roma people do not use this word to describe themselves since the word "gyp", which means cheat, was taken from Gypsy. Uh-oh Dior! But, "In North America, the word "Gypsy" is commonly used as a reference to lifestyle or fashion, and not to the Roma ethnicity". Hmmm...looks like Dior gets a thumbs-up for this one.
Back to the Gypsy Clutch bag. I can see how the pleated ruffle look relates to Gypsy style. I like this clutch because it's very feminine and fun at the same time. Also, you can really match a red bag to anything and look great. The price tag on this one is $478, which isn't too bad for a Dior Clutch.
