Burberry Belted Check Tote

After all of the spring and summer handbags have launched, I've seen image after image of wonderful colors and textures. But after awhile, I feel like I've seen it all until this pre-order, Burberry caught my attention.
While I have owned a couple of Burberry bags, they were not nova check. I've often admired others who wear the pattern well, but haven't felt the desire to own one myself. Lately, Burberry has been utilizing their nova check in more interesting ways. Off "kilt"er patterns, swaths of color, oversize plaid, brushstroke prints, etc. While the only thing truly different about his plaid is the rich caramel color. This bag is worth a second look.
A pre-cursor to Fall handbags, the rich, caramel color caught my eye. I like the dark palette as it works better with many fall colors than the traditional nova check beige. What is most stunning about this bag is the twill belting accent. I'm reminded of rocker-chic, school-girl style with a hint of Victorian darkness when I see it. Yes, I just saw Sherlock Holmes, perhaps that is why I think of dark alleys in a Victorian era with shady ladies belted and corseted standing in the shadows where there is a bit of danger. Whether or not you see that, you have to admit it has some edge!
But this bag isn't all show. It's a wonderful utilitarian day-bag with an extra roomy size of 17"W x 10" x 6". Double-straps with a 5" drop are rolled for comfort. The extra-long, detachable, buckle strap with a 22" drop enables it to be carried cross-body or on the shoulder.
$995 at Saks for pre-order and ships no later than 9/15/2010!

Re: Burberry Belted Check Tote
Maybe it's just me, but whenever I think of the classic check Burberry bag I think autumn-fall.. I'm not really ready yet. lol.
Only thing I'm not crazy about, is that belt detail. It just looks out of place to me.

It would look cuter without the belt across it. Just my opinion, though.

Re: Burberry Belted Check Tote
I like the style but not the color. It's gloomy to me.

Re: Burberry Belted Check Tote
I think it looks cheap. Kind of like something I would take on a camping trip or something. Nada.

Re: Burberry Belted Check Tote
For some reason it makes me think of camping, this would be a very pricey bag to take on a camping trip though

Re: Burberry Belted Check Tote
Ok, well, I have to retract my previous statement. I still don't really like this bag, but I saw it in person yesterday and it doesn't look that bad.
