Default Check Out My New Love...James Hobo

As some of you know...I've been in search of a new bag mainly for spring/summer (around the $500 price point or slightly less). I went to Saks again today and fell in love with the Botkier James Hobo in Cocoa....but you know how being in love goes. One minute you're in love the next minute you're not.

I found this bag to be a tad bit pricey for this style/design. It took me about an hour to get over the price ($595 + tax), but once I got over it I felt better. I'm ok with the price as long as I don't think about it. LOL

So what do you think? Is she a keeper??

This is a Treesje Hudson in pumpkin color. It retails for $630. The bag looks nicer in person.

Sorry about posting this Treesje bag in this thread but I wanted to show you the other bag that I was considering at Saks today. While I really liked the pumpkin color (although it's more fall) and the gold hardware and the fact that it's a dressier bag, I decided to go with the James Hobo in Cocoa because I felt that it was more of an everyday bag and I would get more use out of it. If I had the money I would have gotten them both.

Jess, I absolutely LOVE the Treesje Hudson too. I can't stop thinking about it!! I just checked out the link you sent me and while I just think the bag is 'hot' period, I think I prefer it in the pumpkin color more than the brown. I wish Luna Boston had it in Pumpkin. I'm loving that $385 sale price I'm going to sleep on it tonight and decide whether or not I should keep the James Hobo or go for the Treesje in Pumpkin. I can't afford to do both right now.

Help!!

It's strange, I usually prefer convertible bags esp the very functional ones. But I'm really drawn to the Treesje bag. I don't know, I just like it better than the Botkier. I love the pumpkin better too
Maybe others can be more of a help??

Ok...I slept on it and I've made up my mind. I am going to return the Botkier and get the Treesje in pumpkin. I made my decision based on the following reasons:

Botkier James Hobo in Cocoa vs. Treesje Hudson in Pumpkin

1. This Treesje is dressier (it's easier to dress it UP and even when you're dressed down you still look great).

2. I feel much more comfortable spending $600 for this Treesje bag than this particular Botkier.

3. I love the pumpkin color Treesje better than the cocoa Botkier. The pumpkin color is more unique and it really stands out.

4. This Treesje is more of an attention grabber. If I spend $630 + tax on a bag I want to LOVE it and I also want other people to notice it.

5. The Treesje is structured more like a tote which is what I love. I'm into totes because they are so practical and they are great for travel. They fit my fashion magazines and then some. I think I can also sneak more snacks into the movie theater with this bag. lol

6. I love the gold hardware against that pumpkin color (I'm a gold person as long as the gold doesn't look cheap).

7. I love the overall detail and the braided strap on the Treesje. I'm from New York and I frequent the Village when I'm there. It's very "SOHOish" with a nice pair of jeans and sunglasses. The Botkier is "Villagy" too but the Treesje stands out more.

I think these are enough reasons to return the Botkier and get the Treesje.

I'll post pics of my new bag in the "Other Designer Bags" forum when I get back.

P.S. I may add a Botkier to my wish list. If I happen to get the James Hobo in Cocoa again I don't want to pay $595 + tax.

For me this is a sale. Lol I'm so used to paying $1,000 if not more for my bags that now that I'm on such a tight budget and can only afford a certain price point...the fact that it's closer to $500 and not $1,000 plus is ok as long as I love it. Besides, after this bag I won't buy another one for a while since I'm banned. I also haven't bought a bag in so long I can't take it anymore. I really need a new handbag. This is like an emergency.

Look at me...OMG...I seriously have problems. This is a straight sign of a true shopaholic...when they have to justify why they need to buy something at full price and can't wait for it to go on sale. Thanks for trying to help me Maevey but sometimes true shopaholics like alcoholics can't be helped overnight. Lol

That's a great idea. Then again they may not because I haven't found the pumpkin Hudson on sale. I've only seen other colors on sale. So they may not honor it since it's a different color...but it's worth asking. Thanks!

So I'll see if Saks price matches. If they don't then I'll just buy it at full retail price since I can't find the pumpkin color in this style for less...I have 60 days to return it. During the 60 days I can try and see if bag goes on sale (Saks, online or in other stores) and if it does I will return and purchase sale bag.

That bag is hot, the leather looks delicious. Is it heavy at all? I hope you find another one for a better price.

Ok stop it! LOL I returned the Botkier. You will be happy to know that I did NOT purchase the Treesje Hudson in pumpkin. I did not purchase anything else. When your purse buddies make you feel bad about something you know it's bad. So I decided to put the Treesje on my wish list and wait for it to go on SALE!!!

I also looked at the Hudson in chocolate, black, lipstick (burgundyish), electric blue and wheat online. I think I just like the way the orange pops in this bag. I'm not a blue or brown bag person and wheat looks like it will get dirty. The only other color I could get into would be black I guess. I know I can find the black on sale but I'm not sure this style will look as nice as the pumpkin. I didn't see the black in person. Black also won't be great in spring/summer in Vegas.

So while I decide on whether or not I should get the hudson in black or just wait for the pumpkin to go on sale (who knows when that will be)...in the meantime I'm going to look for other SALE bags I can buy now. I'm so glad I have you in my life. I don't know what I was doing before without you.
