Default Esquire Magazine October 2008 - world's first flashing E-Ink Cover

Do you guys read esquire? I was at the grocers yesterday when the cover caught my eye --- it's called E-Ink -- I just had to pick up a copy for the bf.

It's suppose to last for I think 90 days.

This edition of Esquire features two embedded 2 ¼- x 5-inch E-Ink panels.

One panel (located on the inside front cover) was dedicated to a Ford Motor Company ad for its new crossover vehicle, flex. The second panel was boldly situated smack dab, top, center on the magazine’s front cover.

Here are a couple of my images:

so it's like an electronic magazine cover? how does that work? is there a battery in it? sort of a cool concept but i hate to think of wasted batteries. LOL

sorry to burst anyone's bubble... i think it's a cool idea but i don't think it's going to last. it's too much of an "in between" to make a huge difference. either go all electronic (like Kindle) or stay with all paper. seeing the inside makes me think it's just a gigantic waste of resources and money...

omg t1c, if you think the cover was a silly idea.. you should read the future predictions.. it's kind of rediculous.

    Here are a couple:
Oct 4, 2010 - Canada legalizes the cloning of livestock for human consumptaion.

Nov 6, 2012 - Obama defeats McCain in a landslide. However the most curious aspect of the election is the canadidacy of Digger True, a grassroot "blogucrat" who runs as an independent, soley using the internet.

Dec 31, 2014 - "The Floating Dubai", the inagural space hotel opens its doors. Financed by google, the cost is $2 million per room, per evening. Kanye West performs opening night.

Nov 3, 2020 - True becomes the first president of america postliterate era. President True never appears in public.

June 14, 2024 - Chinese researchers find a cure for aids

Aug 13, 2025 - John Hopkins announces smoking cigarettes is kind of good for you.

Sept 25, 2026 - 25 year old british handmodel Gretchen Tobias scales Mt Everest, without oxygen, totally naked

May 8, 2030 - Deathbed confession. George W. Bush reveals JFK was, in fact, assisinated by the CIA.

Sept 2, 2031 - A mysterious multiracial 7 foot man who refers to himself as "B" shows up at NASA in Houston. Claims to be fromt eh year 2131 and possesses blue prints for a time machine.

Sept 2, 2034 - Another mysterious multiracial 7 foot man shows up, called "C" and begs NASA to discontinue work on the time machine. NASA continues

Feb 14, 2036 - Faced with the notion of "potential mammanilian annihilation within fifty years", all the First World nations agree to make climate change their #1 focus. Fearing this will slow down the time machine, "B" submits a process that could replenish the ozone layer. Soon after he delivers this information, "C" murders "B". "C" goes to jail..

April 3, 2042 - scientists repair ozone layer

Sept 19, 2044 - Erasto Norman, first black pop and avid skiing enthusiast is klled in an avalanche.

    2025-2055 - No recorded history

July 20, 2059 - China astronauts land on the moon but don't leave. They install a community of humans and robots on the lunar surface. A new space race begins

Oct 19, 2071 - An army of Pandas attack Bejing, killing twelve hundred people.

as long as you only have 2 cats (or maybe 3) and they're all spayed or neutered you'll probably be ok

Mr. Zombs showed me that Mag last week when we went to Barnes & Noble. I think it is really cool!

The house cat thing is pretty freaky! Jennifer, maybe if you knit your kitties some sweaters they will spare you your life. LOL
