My guess is where the writers left them, lol. Jin in Claires tent, Sawyer in the cave, and Rose and Bernard are busy in the cave. They seem to be in their own world throughout the whole show. ?Spoiler Alert: skeletons in the cave? That's my guess.

I was thinking the same thing as you about Kate. They hinted around it so many times. When Jin told Claire that Kate has Aaron, she said she would kill her -- did she? No. Instead she saved her from getting plowed over by smokie. Then when ninja guy told Sayid to kill the first person he sees, and that he may hesitate because the person will come in the form of someone he knows. Then here comes Kate strolling out of the jungle. I thought she was a goner. And finally, at the very end when Locke gave her that evil stare down, I thought he was going to snap her neck.

I can't wait for tonight episode. I would be extremely disappointed if they killed off Ben. The previews basically said that's what will happen, and if thats the case, then I already watched the whole episode.
