i use opi nail polish its the best and some great store to get that stuff is ulta 3, target, jcpenney and sephora

On topic: OPI is awesome.
MAC is awesome for the tacky day-glo colours, though the formula isn't as nice as OPI's. Those Nic Sticks by Nicole from OPI or whatever are good for on the run and touching up.
And I'm always going through black nail polish like CRAZY [and I'm super pale too. Practically see through. Seriously, the contrast isn't that bad or too Goth - very deco and minimalist. Like black hair and light eye combos. Only on hands.] So I just buy the el-cheepo version from NYC and put some clear varnish on before hand.
