ahhhh your Trouville could have been seriously injured! lol, just kidding. Good thing you are okay. Thats really scary.
I'm probably not the best person to give advice since my hair is stick straight. But my roomy uses one by paul mitchell.... found it on the folica site. she says it works pretty good, never had any problems (or dangerous encounters)

Yea I dont really flat iron my hair anymore but when I used to I used the CHI 1" flat iron.....and its true.....after a while it almost stops working all together....you would be in the middle of ironing and it would just turn off.....sucks cause i spent like $200 on it....But yea Paul Mitchell has really good products....so you should check him out.....you could always just return it if it doesnt work out....

Hi girls, I'm desperately needing a flat iron too and thinking of getting a Sedu. Is it much better than a Solia which is quite a bit cheaper? From what I've read, these things don't seem to last too long - how long is the average life of these?
Also, what spray or conditioner do you recommend? I've got thick coarse frizzy-wavy hair hair. |

Seems like the life span of these appliances is the same whether you buy a $20 or a $200 model. Stylists at the salon I go to have told me the same thing, and that you don't need a $200 appliance to get a good result.
Anyhow, I use a heat crimper each day, it cost $20 at Target, and has lasted me two years so far. |

Ok.... Well my flat iron that almost caught my bag and my hair on flames was the SEDU.... I can tell you that the SEDU is the best hair straightener I've tried!!! It works extremely good... BUT.... yes, their is a BUT, the whole mechanism doesn't last long at all... I purchased the SEDU, on Septemer 2006... and I just sent it yesterday to the company again for repair for the second time.... I swear, all SEDU has to do is work on the time function and they would have the best product ever!!! |

The salesperson at Ulta who was also the salon stylist said the older Chi was her favorite and lasted her 5 years so I got the Big Chi which was also on a sale. So far its working well enough. I like the wide 2" plate since it gets more done at once.
My complaint is the Chi 44 Iron Guard pump spray which got clogged after just 2 uses and now just dribbles instead of spraying. I couild probably get a cheap pump spray but am afraid that'll clog as well. And once its blocked, washing it doesn't seem to help open the holes. So I have to pour it onto my hands and apply. |

I'm on my second Chi iron. I dropped my first one numerous time which probably explains why the darn thing fell apart eventually. However, I bought the limited pink chi iron less than a year ago and it already has the on/off problem. First is wouldn't turn off. Now it turns off whenever it feels like it! I plunked down $ for GHD! I've heard raves about it! No more Chi for me!
