Angry Is this ebay seller out of line or what??!...I can't believe people....

I just felt like venting, I suppose, but wanted to know what other's think of this situation. I recently purchased a pre-owned t-shirt from a buyer on Ebay. In picture of the item was fine, and they listed the condition as Excellent/Like New. Well, when I got the shirt, it has a orange mark near the top of the shirt. The mark is not highly noticeable, but you can see it.it's there. I'm not blind. Also, it does not have a like new appearance, but has the appearance of a shirt that has been washed and wore more than once.

Anyways, I normally contact seller if there is a major issue, but this time I did not. Also, in their listing it says no returns. I didn't care to return it anyways, because I wasn't completely unsatisfied with the shirt. I left positive feedback, and mentioned I liked the shirt and the shipping was fast, but I would not say the shirt was in "like new" condition as was stated in the ad.

It had to have been within a few minutes, this person sends me back a huge paragraph, telling me they wished I had contacted them first before leaving such feedback. They told me it would affect their sales, and was going on and on about how they just bought it from an outlet store and only wore it a few hours. Um, who cares?

Ok, so I politely respond back and told them about the condition, and I'm sorry I didn't realize the feedback was a huge deal. I felt I needed to be honest, and didn't feel it was right to give perfect feedback. I told them I didn't think it would affect their sales.

They respond back again, and tell me yes it will because it makes them look dishonest. While that may be, uh they WERE dishonest about the condition! I supposedly should have contacted them to see about a refund, but I didn't want a refund. I wasn't completely unsatisfied as I already explained. I told them sorry again, as I kept apologizing and suggested having Ebay remove feedback if it is causing that much trouble. I also told them at this point I feel a bit attacked, and not once was there an apology for any of the inconvenience on my part. It's almost as if this person was scolding me because of not leaving them perfect feedback, but never even said sorry for the shirt having a mark on it and it looking nothing close to "like new" condition.

Was there something wrong with me briefly mentioning the condition of the shirt? I didn't really leave negative feedback, as I just commented that I didn't think it looked new. I actually did choose positive feedback, and said I liked the shirt, and the shipping was fast. I think it was inappropriate for this person to interrogate me over this, and never did apologize for anything. I apologized for leaving feedback, but it wasn't my fault. To make matters worse, it seems as if this crazy person isn't going to leave me ANY feedback? How is this fair. I understand how what I wrote bothered her, but I wasn't trying to be nasty or affect their sales. It was their fault, that they were not accurate on the description/condition of item.

Hmm... I agree that it could possibly affect the seller's sales. What you did won't affect their feedback score though, so it would only matter if a prospective buyer was combing through their feedback. But I don't think you did anything wrong. You were being honest and it is the seller's fault for not depicting the item accurately. Maybe they will learn their lesson for next time.

I think your feedback was perfectly acceptable. If they were so worried about their feedback and comments, they would have accurately described the item. The feedback you left was positive, so they should just be happy about that. The only less than positive comment you left isn't really that bad, and you were just being honest. I think you should just stop responding to them and let it go, it is what it is at this point.

Well, I wouldn't have wrote what I did, if I thought it was going to cause such an uproar. This seller deliberately has not left me any feedback, almost as if I'm a horrible buyer. I'm the one with the defected shirt, but I'm the bad guy. That's Ebay for you.

Not getting feedback is not a big deal.

However, leaving less than perfect feedback does effect the sellers now that ebay has made it so the buyer has total control. Sellers really appreciate it if you contact them first to work things out (as per ebay's recommened procedures). Positive feedback is basically like gold. and one negative can ruin a seller's reputation based on ebay's new scoring policy. I had someone file a COMPLAINT when they thought the item didn't arrive in time and it was perfectly within my shipping information how soon I would ship and the number of days that USPS typically delivers. It took two months to get back the item too.... I certainly believe in being honest though! What you did will not affect his score, but him not leaving feedback, does not affect you either... Perhaps he honestly did not see the mark? He is probably overreacting, i just hope you can understand a possible reason why...

Yes, not getting feedback is not a big deal, but it has to do with WHY this person refused me feedback. I bought their item which they advertised as basically new, and I paid for it super fast. Not only this, but I should have what was advertised. Instead my shirt looks pretty worn, at least compared to like new condition, and as of today just noticed a couple more little spots on it. I didn't contact the seller first, because in all the shirt looks fairly good, but when you list something as perfect condition, and its far from that, I don't see how that can be worked out. I think this seller knew the shirt was in that condition.

She didn't even offer an explanation as to why the spots were there. A normal response would have been "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't realize the shirt had a mark on it...". Instead she is like "I wish you would have told me before leaving that feedback, that hurts my sales". If I wanted to return the item, or thought it was worth it-meaning the value, would have done so, but I'm not returning a t shirt. It would cost me to ship it back as well. I found out from a few other buyers, that she did the same thing to them. They actually left neutral and negative feedback though, which definitely could hurt her sales(but that's not their fault). She is capable of selling items that do not match description in the listing. She can be dishonest. People should be aware of that. So yeah, not leaving feedback, not a big deal, but she deliberately refused me feedback, while I still left her mostly positive feedback...and I really should not have. It's not the buyers fault when a seller is dishonest. She didn't take responsibility for it, but seems to punish buyers because of it, or make out like they are the ones lying. Uh, I hope I don't have to deal with someone else like this. :)

If I was upset about the stain, I would have contacted the seller and said something. If I didn't say something to them then I would have left positive feedback without the side comment. It is unfair to sideswipe someone like that when you haven't talked to them about it beforehand. It's just common courtesy. We all make mistakes. I've inadvertently sold things that had stains that I didn't see beforehand and was happy to refund money or take the item back. I would have been appalled if someone hadn't said something and left that kind of feedback. You didn't give her the opportunity to make it right.
Think about if the shoe were on the other foot, wouldn't you have wanted the chance to make things right?

Ok, so I posted something else, but deleted it and decided to post this instead. I think I mentioned I contacted a few other buyers who also had issues with her. This is what they said below:

First ebayer: "Yeah she is crazy... she argued with me so I opened a case with ebay and was refunded for the item plus shipping. They reviewed the messages from each of us and I won so obviously she is just being a witch to everyone. My item didn't match the picture and was damaged and I asked her for a refund and she refused and basically called me a liar, saying there was no way they were damamged blah blah blah, any way end result is I got the money and even kept the shoes! Not that I'll be wearing them though. So I would complain to ebay."

Second ebayer: The item was not as described in the
auction. She sold an item that had stains that were not disclosed
and she refunded the money. Yes, I got a pretty nasty email back from her, with threats that she was going to black list me somehow on a sellers list, but clicked delete and that was the end of it.

So, yeah sounds like a lovely honest individual. Ebay should be lucky to have them.

Hi, I'm a seller on ebay and completley understand his concern about about his feedback. I would love to be able write in my post that if you are unhappy please contact me before giving feedback. I won't do it because if I am shopping and I see that in a listing it lends to make think I will find an issue with the item.

You gave full marks? Therefore it shouldn't be that much of a problem! Maybe the person was just having a bad day?

This is what makes me want to rip my hair out with eBay. I think you were fine with your feedback, heck, I've done similar things with mine. I think that was fair considering you even left them positive feedback. eBay really can get ridiculous; holding out on feedback, just wow. I wouldn't bother with trying to get that feedback. Be done with this person as soon as you can, what a headache some people cause.

Yesterday I let go a BEAUTIFUL Hermes handbag in an auction from an european site -that has great reputation- cause the description said mint condition ... and it had 3 NOTORIOUS stains, the price was low and it was original but it annoyed me mostof the things I checked at that site and said MIND CONDITIONS, SLIGHTLY WEAR had stains, scratches, nailpolish marks ... come on ... who deos her nails over a Christian Dior Gaucho bag or a Chanel one???
