Default When is it time to file a dispute?

I ordered a JC key chain on the 16th of January, I paid immediately and had a few communication issues, but seller said she'd mail it on MLK day. Which sounded odd, but I figured maybe she didn't realize the mail wasn't running that day. Then last Thursday, nearly two weeks later, I emailed her again asking her if there was a tracking number I could have, as I hadn't received the key chain yet. I have yet to receive any kind of acknowledgment. Now I'm getting concerned.

When is it ok or the right time to file a dispute? What do I need to do? Should I email her or just go to ebay?

I am not sure what the standard timeframe is to give someone, but if this person is not attempting to communicate with you about it I would say the h@$l with them and file a complaint. I would maybe email them one more time and say if you don't hear from them within 2 days you will be filing a dispute.

I agree with KANMP. If you paid via Paypal, you need to file the claim with them. I think they call it a "dispute" first before escalating it to "claim" status. eBay will know about the claim via Paypal. Paypal's site has very clear instructions to guide you through the process. If you didn't pay via Paypal, you should contact eBay directly. I had something similar happen to me before. Sorry to hear you have a deadbeat seller . Good luck.

There is a deadline to file disputes (sorry, not sure what it is off-hand). Please find out so they can still assist you. You may still have time but you need to check ASAP.

Best to talk to Paypal or eBay over the phone if you have the option to do so. They may have chat capabilities too? I personally dislike emailing when it comes to serious issues like this but everyone's different.

Thanks so much. I fairly new to Ebay and I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but this is nearing my limit. I understand things happen, but this is getting ridiculous.

Do "deadbeat sellers" happen often? I always thought deadbeat buyers were more common.

Things do happen no doubt about it. I sold a belt on the 21st and mailed it the next day. This poor girl has still not recieved it, I have no idea why. But I answer her immediatly when she emails, I was able to give her a tracking number, etc. So, yes, things can happen, but this person should still be at a minimum trying to keep in touch with you. I have no idea what the rate is for deadbeat sellers. But, it does happen....

No, most sellers are pretty good. It's unfortunate that this one is so non-communicative.

Great, now I feel like an idiot. The key chain just came in.

AFTER I sent her a polite, but slightly irritated message informing if I did not hear from her, I would be filing a dispute. However, she did not send it on the 19th as she said she was, she shipped it last Wednesday. Big difference.

Excuse me while I type my apology letter.

It's good that it finally got there! But thumbs-down to her for her total lack of communication!
    Now on a BAN!

Yup, better communication would have made all the difference. At least I have it now and I don't have to worry if she's even sending it.

Great news ..... I dislike when sellers aren't totally honest when they are sending stuff. She should have said something. Well, at least you won't be going through the hassle of disputing/filing a claim.

That seller deserves a low rating on her communication and shipping- and you can make your displeasure known by giving her a 3 or lower on her stars.
The seller had absolutely no reason to behave like that, shame on her.
But I'm glad you got your item.
