Wow, that's scary. I'm trying not to buy anything major on ebay now. And I always get suspicious when people say "unwanted present" especially if it's an LV or some other designer bag cause it normally means fake.

Yikes. I thought getting scammed by SNAD items was bad enough! Sorry you are going through this.

I sold a wallet on eBay a month ago & I got an e-mail today from Paypal saying that the funds were taken out of my account. When I called to figure out what was going on, I was told that it is under investigation because the funds that were used to pay for the wallet were apparently stolen!

Oh my goodness, that's horrible! That is so unfair that you get punished because someone else did something illegal. I hope they can fix this for you somehow.

Ebay is such a scary place. I've heard so many bag things about Ebay, that's why I never buy anything from there. But, on the other hand my bf loves it.

hey no offense or anything but how sure are you that they're the local police? coz i remember when i bought my ipod, i registered it on apple, logged my name and address and the ipods' serial number on it. sounds like a scam to me... well of course not unless you went to the police dept to authenticate the email.

Smile Re: Beware of stolen goods

    Thanks buddy.
But the problem is that how we can know that the product we are going to buy is a stolen item? I mean from where we can get information about it?
If anyone knows it please tell us.

    Thanks again for warning us.

Indeed, it just doesn't make sense...how does this work, would you have to return it and ebay pays you back ?

I was just wondering what happens when you buy something expensive and it turns out to be stolen. I mean, is it confiscated by the police? Do they give you your money back? I guess that for people living in other countries it can be a real problem with the customs and everything. I really hope this never happens to me.
    Always be careful of Paypal!
