Default Alexander McQueen Apple and Bird Knuckle Clutch

I came across the Alexander McQueen Apple and Bird Knuckle Clutch and... well, I have a little bone to pick.

I love the colorful birds and the equally colorful flowers. But as a biologist, something is really bothering me. When I look at the golden bird on top, I can't help but think it looks like a hummingbird. The features are all there. The short wings, long narrow bill, and fanned out tail. So if this is indeed a hummingbird, why on earth is he eating an apple? Hummingbirds eat almost exclusively nectar from flowers and they occasionally supplement their diet with insects as a source of protein. So yes, it seems I have a bone to pick with Alexander McQueen. I suppose I can forgive them though. I mean, it is Alexander McQueen. I can't stay mad for too long.

Growing up we had an apple orchard and always had hummingbirds around. They don't eat the fruit, however they will sip the juices from a previously pecked or over-ripe fruit. Also old decaying fruit usually attract fruit flies, which hummingbirds eat

But anyways, love this clutch! Very dramatic

I know hummingbirds eat insects to supplement their diet. I have never seen them sipping the juices from fruit before. Hmm, I suppose they probably could do that. It looks so weird to have a hummingbird eating an apple. Maybe you're right though, maybe it isn't "eating" the apple but drinking the juices instead?

Yea, but it must be a newly added image of the other side of the clutch. Because I looked through all the images after reading your post and didn't see that side with all the pretty crystals!!
