Also I had read too that they are bad for you... although I thought Splenda was supposed to be the "safest" so far. So is that bad if I have one soda a day? I really don't each sugary things otherwise (except for the occasional ice cream cone in the summer). I hate anything with vinegar in it... so I'm not even taking in sugar through condiments like salad dressing.
Oh and Marissa, I had switched to all whole grain stuff (well as much as I could anyway) and then my doctor told me not to eat any bread at all. And I was like WTF? Aren't whole grains good for your heart? Not to mention they are a source of fiber.

Soda.. is just a bunch of sugar. You would be surprised.. if you cut out the sugar.. how much weight will come off. Water flushes all the toxins out.. if you replace soda with water.. weight would shed off. One soda won't kill you, but I did a study in one of my nutrition classes. Showed when people drink soda, they are gaining a total of 20 lbs per year. No not at one lump some, but putting it on and off due to soda. If you really NEED the soda, I would say drink it. But I would say drink like 8 bottles of water a day to try to flush out all that sugar and sodium.
And actually vinegar is good for you. It speeds up the metabolism, rapidly. Like not even joking, you eat something and it slides off. My nutrition professor, told us she drinks a tablespoon of vinegar a day just to speed up her metabolism. Must explain why she was as skinny as a rail! I agree though, vinegar is nasty.
A lot of people drink soda for caffeine. Breakfast is your main meal and should be your biggest. Breakfast is when you can pretty much eat whatever you want because my the end of the day, your metabolism has already depleted everything you ate at breakfast. Eating breakfast would give you energy throughout the day, as well as taking a B-Complex vitamin in the AM. B-Complex energizes the body. Also, if you were to get a little cardio workout in the AM, you would be surprised how wide awake you will be the whole entire day.
When it comes to a doctor telling you what to eat NEVER LISTEN. Yes, doctors go to medical school, but they take NO CLASSES on nutrition. Their curriculum is all medical. They have no clue of what a nutritionist knows. I had this fight with me now ex-BF (so complicated) all the time. His father is a doctor... and that's fine. But when it comes to nutrition, I feel he has no idea what he is talking about. All 3 of his boys are skinny as a rail, and are under 5'7. Literally the 18 year old is 5'2. He never let them drink milk or any other dairy product (even when they were little), or anything with a tiny bit of fat. Because of this.. the boys look mal-nutritioned. The body NEEDS milk (calcium) and fat. Especially women need as much calcium as we can get, because we are more prone to getting osteoporosis. And the body NEEDS fat. You can not eat healthy all the time, and not have fat. Even the food pyramid says we need fat, but doctors neglect to really read what it says. Respect them, they just have no clue about nutrition.
Whole grains are good for you because they have fiber. Not to sound gross, but fiber is what makes us go to the bathroom. Without fiber you will be pretty constipated, lol. If you don't eat whole grains you are pretty much eating everything white. White bread, pasta, etc.. is bleached. It was once wheat, and they bleached it for the more appealing eye. Like my Mother, she won't eat any bread unless it's white. Something mentally, people just don't like bread unless it's white. White bread isn't bad for you, but it doesn't have the nutrients anymore due to being bleached.
Any other questions ask away!
