You are correct that the date code is stamped on the leather that holds the D-Ring... but I have seen Epi Speedy 30s with the date code on a tab within the pocket. I'm not really sure what to think since the seller says it is a 25. Perhaps they are mistaken and its really a 30 or perhaps its a really good fake. I'm not really sure. Also note that the number of stitches across the top of the piece that attaches the handle to the bag (the line of stitches that goes vertically across just below the grommet) is a total of six stitches:

That is correct for an Epi, right? Mono has 5 stitches.
