Default Re: Now I'm the one having the bad day...

hey... Calm down... Its going to be okay...

First step is to contact the hospital. Most of them will forgive a large portion of the bill - especially if it is affiliated with a religious organization.

Second step ... Do NOT pay the bill via credit card ... A hospital cannot to my knowledge make collection attempts on you as long as you are making payments ... Even if its only $5 per month and normally there is no interest ... My hubby had kidney stones and spent the night at the hospital and I carry a decent policy and it still set us back $5000 ... I just pay $50 per month.

If you are a member of a church, don't be ashamed to go to them and ask for help - that is why they have benevolence budgets is for people like you and your husband who are bettering themselves and something beyond their control happens...

Was your husband at work when this happened? If so, he is eligible for coverage under workmans comp ... If his employer says otherwise call a lawyer relatively quickly - they will help you free upfront and then take a percentage ( usually 1/3 ) of a settlement ... And the settlemnt will be for med bills plus pain and suffering

Whew... That was a lot of typing on this touch screen ... Hope it helps...chin up and everything will be okay....
