I worked part time at Dillard's while I was in college and I worked in the Shoe Department. If you go to the department stores, they have these things you can put in the front of the shoe that will push your foot back, so if the shoe is slightly large, it makes it fit. They also have these soft things that you stick in the heel that keeps it from rubbing a blister on your feet. If you ask, the associate will (should) give you some. I always threw a handful in when someone bought shoes from me and used them.
Unfortunately, these do not work with open toe or open back shoes. But if you see a great pair of pumps you can't live without, you can make it work.
