Count how many calories you normally take in a day. Then just add another 500 -600 calories on top of your normal caloric intake. By eating just a bit more.

Instead of eating 3 big meals a day. Break it down to smaller 5-6 meals a day.

Get some Protein shakes and take multi-vitamins everyday.

Even though you're trying to gain weight...It does not mean that you can stuff your face with greasy fatty food that's unhealthy. Stick with Fish, lean meats, carbs, whole wheat, poultry, ect. Just eat bigger portions of it.

Weight Lifting!! Yes! You heard me! Just because you lift weights does not mean you will start looking like a man. Weight lifting will shape your body and tone your muscles and therefore will make you look more shapely. note: Unless you're going to lift extremely heavy weights...You will not get bulky.

After doing this for one month. You should gain anywhere from 3-5lbs. a month. (gaining too much in a short period is not healthy , SO, I dont recommened you over do it).

At some point will stop gaining. If you need to put on more weight...Just add another 200 cal. on top of whatever you taking in.
I had the same problem last year, and I actually ended up doing the things you suggested and I am now at the weight I would like to be at. It can be difficult to gain healthy weight, but it's certainly doable.
